Been a bit scarce on the forum since the week before Christmas... We got hit with just over 3ft of snow in 4 days in fact Christmas day was the one day I manged not to be out on the Tractor clearing the road.. We have 1 mile of Private road from the Highway to the ranch, I clear 3/4 of it because naturally Glen was dumb enough to by the place that is the farthest back I have a neighbor "Snow Buddy" that does the front 1/4 mile of the road, we meet very often at about 4:30 am out there because both of our wives have to get out for work We stand out there as the snow falls on us both and talk behind the other 3 neighbors backs because they don't help LMAO For the last 6 years I have been using a 1979 L185DT Kubota to do that amout of work in the winter and to keep the road smooth in the summer.. For those that are not Tractor buffs (me) that it a 18 hp 2 cyl Diesel tractor.. It has performed admirably and started every cold snowy morning I asked it to.. I bought it with 24ooo hours on the tractor and put another 1100+ on there.. The old Gal was tired, left an oil trail in the snow as she worked, but heck I got through This last hit was the proverbial straw, the wife and I decided that if we needed "More Power" Urrrrruhhh, I couldn't believe it really didn't take much convincing for her to be on board So for the last 2 weeks I was out tractor shopping, I found another Kubota but this one is near twice the tractor I had it is a 1997 L3600DT in tractor speak that is 37.5 hp on a 4 cyl diesel, the really big difference for me though is at the PTO for the snow blower.. The old one was pushing 11 hp back there on her best day, the new one is rated at 31 hp.. The Tractor trade out was last Thursday, and I spent the next few days tweaking in all the adjustments and getting the blower attached.. Tractor companies love to show you these advertisements about how easy it is to change implements, well that might work for the smaller stuff but getting the bigger stuff on and adjusted right takes hours Sunday night it started snowing again and Monday morning left us with just over 6 inches of wet white cement on the road.. I tired out the new setup and what used to take me 3 1/2 to 4 hours of cold wet work, I finished in just over 2 hours and did a better job at it... The best part however was the top cover on the new tractor I was still pretty dry when I was done Anyway I thought I would share my good mood Here is the tractor I got hehehehe Trading out at the front of my road, old on the left New one in the barn, look it even has a built in Engine Heater no more little Magnetic heaters stuck all over the place Old one for comparison and new one for comparison No BS the left front wheel on the old one almost came completely off before we got it on the trailer, it was shot to heck.. All the way up the road I was talking to it "Just another 3/4 mile, just another 1/2 mile, yer almost there, yer almost there" I talked to the guys at the Kubota Dealership, they said it finally gave out as they were parking it and the wheel broke off
I can't see the pics either. I'll try on Chrome which has Adobe. Come down to Florida and you can shovel sand instead.
