Today starts what I'm calling "Operation Annihilation." I'm not allowed to buy any more stuff until I finish some of the stuff I have. So I picked some I don't like as much or is almost gone. W.H. Morely & Sons RR Black Hammer w/ Voskod 22mm Silvertip from Whippeddog Proraso old formula Nivea Cool Kick
I haven't had very many shaves the past few weeks. I've kept the stubble and only shaved once the entire time I've been in Texas. That shave was alright, but certainly nothing to brag about. Prep: warm shower. Razor: '63 Flare tip. Blade: Personna Lab. Cream: Noxzema Sensitive in a red can. Post: Cold water rinse, Thayer's WH Rose Petal.
Tuesday's Shave-Day 2 'Straight 8 Week' Arko Shave Stick-bowl lathered Omega 10029 Baby-Pro Sedef Disposable Blade Straight/Perma-Sharp Super d1 Old Spice Original AS Well I just realized this was 'Straight 8 Week' so I ran into the bathroom and knocked out 1 1/2 passes 1 WTG and a little ATG touch up here and there... Not bad....I need another pass, but I'm going to be cool....This was the most enjoyment I've gotten so far with shaving with a Straight... And I really did have fun this time...I was more rushed than I wanted to be, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity...I'm going to make this Straight 8 hang all week.....I am a living testament to the importance of these theme weeks...If Steve hadn't called this...I might not have ever gotten around to doing a full week with the shavette....But he did and I looking forward with high hopews and great expectations to what this week will bring...If I can just break the ice on using this Sedef Razor, I'll be thrilled... One thing....I love this razor...I can't compare as I've never used any other straight type shaving device....But it feels great in my hand, and it gives me a feeling of self-confidence that I didn't expect and I don't deserve.......But I can see why the Turkish Barbers love these... If anybody wants a Sedef Shavette I'll tell you right now I couldn't buy one...everyone I know was out, but a barber gave me one...not even my barber, but a real nice guy...But I believe this link for a store in the UK is good: http://www.barberblades.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=48_35&product_id=391
Yes, Jeff, you're quite right about that! Come to think of it, is there any cream or soap you haven't used yet? It seems you have tried them all!
Well...never one to leave well enough alone....the time presented itself...so I did 2 more passes....WTG and ATG Now I have a very respectable DFS...I'd say BBS on the Top Lip to nose and Cheeks and Jaw-line...Throat area, more DFS and a little burn when I splashed the Old Spice but it went away and I don't see any redness.... So the ice has been broken with this Sedef shavette I believe...Thank you Steve....I'm now looking forward to a week filled with getting some milage with this razor....
Tuesday! Prep: hot washing cloth Music: Vangelis, Apocalypse des Animaux Brush: Wilkinson Sword badger Soap: Daisy's Mountain Naturals Cold Water Razor: Gem OCMM Blade: Gem Shave: 3-pass + touch-up Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse A fine and comfortable DFS++. Have a great day!
Sunday Hot towel Mike's Natural soap, unscented HIS synthetic brush EJ DE89 ivory handle Gillette 7 o'clock super platinum, blue TSD after shave milk, unscented Two day stubble. Lather from Mike's soap was a little too dry. Have to work on getting that right, but still have good performance. Three passes, wonderful BBS result.
Tuesday Hot towel Mystic waters soap, unscented HIS synthetic brush Schick injector with Schick blade TSD unscented aftershave milk Very good lather from the MW soap. This unscented has a stronger scent than other unscented soaps, like the Mike's or TSD. Maybe it picked up a faint scent from another soap while stored by the vendor. Not bad at all and made a good lather easily. The injector gave a flawless BBS result.
08 January 2012, Tuesday Hot shower to start the day. Proraso preshave soap to prep the face. Featured soap Kell's Original Brush choice Vulfix 28 Razor for today's shave Gillette SS and PolSliver. Three pass fantastic DFS.
Mike, as a matter of fact I can think of plenty of creams and soaps which I never heard of, never mind tried!
Tuesday morning, January 8, 2013 Schick E2 Injector razor w/ Schick blade (8) Semogue 1250 boar bristle brush, Arko shaving soap w/ hot water lather, finish with cold water rinse for a DFS!
Jeff that kool monsoon is great stuff! Where on Earth did you find it? I recieved a very small tube in a PIF. I searched for it and finally gave up. Awesome lemon scent as well.
SOTD 1.8.13 Preshave - Shower, Nivea face wash, Coconut oil Cream - Body shop Maca Root Brush - whipped dog 24MM silvertip Blade - Feather (2) Razor - 1952 Gillette SS A/S - Pinaud Lilac Vegetal then regular pinaud clubman Pretty good shave. I am finding that the Feather blades are sharp and smooth. They def make me rethink that I have my Technique down. As a matter of fact they may be too sharp for me. The brush whipped up lather like a dream then laid it on my face like nothing I've ever used before. There was so much lather in the brush that when I lifted it from my face there was almost a suction to it. Just one nick and a few weepers. But I did achieve BBS. On the Aftershave note, I got a free sample from Whipped Dog with my brush. When I transferred the AS into a small bottle the scent was ok maybe even pleasant. But once on the face I couldn't stand it. I don't know if it was some of it evaporating or what but I had to wash it off. Then a few splashes of good ole clubman put it back on the right track.
Jason, I was lucky enough to buy it at a Bangladeshi-owned convenience store here in Montreal, which we call a "depanneur". The owner of this store is in Bangladesh at the present time, and whenever I know he is going I ask him to bring back some creams from there. He himself is a traditional wetshaver but he only likes Nivea cream or the Godrej creams. He says he doesn't care for the Bangladeshi creams, so he brings them back for me. I love this Kool Monsoon cream also - it does smell great. There is also the Kool Frosty version in the blue tube which has an even stronger cooling sensation and the same lather. However, the scent to me anyway is not quite as nice, but it does great things for sensitive skin. Here's what that version looks like:

Wednesday 09-01-2013 Razor: Gillette Fat handled Tech Blade: Polsilver SI (1) Brush: Horse hair #6 Cream: SuperMax Menthol AS: Arko Cool First shave with this very gentle razor,3 passes for BBS (XTG,ATG,ATG)
Wednesday: #6 Horsehair Super Speed/7 AM day 3 SuperMax Menthol SC 444 AS Balsam Barbon AS YSL Pour Homme EDT I see my dear friend Veli and I used the same cream this morning and it was he who sent it to me! This stuff is fantastic - a mountain of rich, creamy lather in no time, a beautiful scent, and a great cooling effect. The 444 balsam and the Barbon aftershave did a wonderful job of continuing the face-freezing!
Shave of the Day (SOTD) Wednesday January 9, 2013• Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower • Razor: Mühle R89 Rosegold • Blade: Gillette Super Thin (4) • Brush: Semogue 1438 Boar • Soap: Proraso Aloe and Vitamin E • AS: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave I love the Mühle, I know technically it shares the same head design as an DE89, but I feel that is performs better than the EJ. This is the fourth shave with the Gillette Super Thin and still no tugging or pulling, I am really amazed at the performance of these blades. I had to break out my beloved 1438 today, as it really is my favorite Semogue and a great boar. I cannot wait for the day that the Proraso Blue comes in a tub, based upon their recent history it seems to be around six months. Aqua Velva has become a favorite, I cannot believe I went so many months without it. Never again will I allow it to be gone from my den for so long.
