Thats why these guys captured the Hearts & Whiskers of more than a few generations of men....Their track record cannot be ignored... And yours Sir is a very lovely example of the breed I might add...
Arley, the SuperMax Classic cream on its own contains menthol, but it seems to be non-existant during the lathering and the shave. On the other hand this cream moisturizes the skin very well and prevents irritation and razor burn. The SuperMax Menthol cream is very cooling - not quite, but almost as cooling as Proraso Green cream or soap.

Thursday 5/8 W.H. Morely & Sons Maca Root SC Whippeddog 22mm Silvertip Thayer's Witch Hazel w/ Lemon Not quite as smooth of a shave as I've been getting. I don't know if it's that I don't usually shave multiple days in a row, the Maca Root instead of Proraso, or I just had bad technique today. Oh well still a DFS with a small amount of discomfort.
Happy Birthday to your mother. Since it is her birthday, lets see what the old wheel of birthday regalement has in store for her.
Prep PSC Proraso SC Frank Finest Badger Brush (Fan Shaped) Feather Artist Club SS Razor Feather ProGuard Blade (1) Proraso ASB Proraso ASL I had just one goal for today's shave... I wanted to complete two passes with my Feather straight as quickly as possible. I didn't even care if I was getting a close shave or not, I was literally just trying to remove the shaving cream from my face as efficiently as possible without cutting myself or scraping off too much skin. An old barber once told me how he learned to use a straight. The instructor had everyone in the classroom put shaving cream on a balloon and the students had to shave the balloon without breaking it. Pretty cool! I was very pleased that I didn't "break my balloon" today! There was no blood and no significant areas of irritation. I ended up with a SAS (socially acceptable shave) but there were visible areas of stubble. I think the easiest way to learn straight razor shaving is to use a good razor like the Feather. The disposable blade means that you don't have to worry about getting frustrated by the honing process. Also, Feather sells the ProGuard blade which has tiny raised bumps on the blade edge that really help you feel the blade and get the pressure right. The razor shown above is sturdy and has a nice weight. In addition, you can actually lay the razor flat against your face and the blade will rise up ever so slightly off the skin. Things are coming along but I still experience the blade jumping and skipping over my whiskers which I find frustrating. I will have to try to shave with a straight at least once a week if I am going to master it. I am guessing it still took me well over 20 minutes to do two passes but I am slowly getting better. If you got a few minutes to kill, check out this Über Shaving Dude who bangs out a three pass straight razor shave in under 5 1/2 minutes! Awesome!! Cheers, Lyndon

Friday: Thank goodness the procedure went well for me yesterday - in fact, it went very well so I'm much more relaxed. Here's what I used for this morning's shave: #6 Horsehair Super Speed/7 AM day 5 Aspis Ice Rain SC Svoboda AS Balsam Max Refreshing AS YSL Pour Homme EDT I'm so smooth that I'm mega-BBS after this wonderful shave. My dear friend Veli sent me this Aspis Ice Rain cream from Bulgaria which smells awesome, lathers great, and has a good Level B cooling sensation. My dear friend Dmitry sent me this Svoboda balsam which gives #1 skincare also with a nice cooling sensation, and my dear friend Rene (SSL Studio) in Holland sent me this Max Refreshing aftershave, which is a terrific face-freezer.

So cold when I did a cold water splash my face almost hurt from the cold. The feather blade is holding up nicely. After its third shave the sharpness has calmed down a bit and it was a smooth and quick DFS.

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Friday January 11, 2013• Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower • Razor: Gillette Short Comb NEW mounted to Matador Toro Mastif Corto Handle. • Blade: Gillette Super Thin (6) • Brush: Vintage Fuller restored with TGN 18mm Super Silvertip • Soap: Tabac with added menthol • AS: Brut with added menthol • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Bath of Aftershave This is the first time that I have ever pushed a DE blade for 6 shaves, and amazingly it was still good!!! For the first time today I noticed the slightest amount of tugging on my neck during the first pass, which amazes me, as I have tested many blades and none have lasted this long. It also has performed well in every razor I used this week. They may become my new "go to blade", although I have about 400 or so blades, these will definitely be added to regular rotation. Every aspect of today's shave was excellent, a great way to end the work week.
Today's shave! Not bad at all....I usually cant go ATG...but today I dabbled into it a bit. We shall see how my neck is tomorrow. But none the less a pretty damn smooth shave! I don't know that I completely like Mama Bears soaps but they got good glide...I will give them that credit. I find no matter what temperature the water is in my scuttle....the Mama Bears soap just cant hack the heat and it starts to break down pretty quick. If it wasn't for the glide in this soap... I'm sure my face would be a bloody mess! Razor- Edwin Jagger 89 Blade- Derby Extra (3) Brush- Semogue 1250 Soap- Mama Bears Sleigh Ride Post Shave- Baxter of California ASB/ Vitos Tobacco Splash
