I'm a newbie who just got a tube of GFT in a tube. I put about an almond-sized amount in my mug, swirled and swirled, added a bit of water at a time and ended up with very little lather. Any ideas on what I did wrong?
You may want to try less water and more product. Did you soak your brush before adding a little water? I normally soak my brushes in a mug of hot water while I'm showering. Then I give them a gentle squeeze. This still leaves a good deal of water in the brush. I don't have to add extra water very often this way unless I really over do it on soap/cream. I tried a GFT cream sample once and thought it was great stuff. Let us know if it improves.
I did soak the brush. I've had no problems with Proraso or Omega, just this new one. Maybe you're right and I need to add some more cream. By the way, who are you who can summon fire without flint or tinder? Isn't that Tim the Enchanter?
I agree with Jay. Most of the British brands such as GFT, T&H & TOBS tend to not take too much water at all to get going. Could have just been saturated.
Correct sir, I'm a sucker for anything Monty Python. Same thing happens to me on occasion with my silvertip brush. That baby really holds water. Lately I have been putting my bowl in the sink full of hot water. Even though I flip the bowl over and give it a shake, water drops still remain. Those 6-8 drops can mess up getting the thick hearty lather I like. A little extra product usually brings it back to life. Starting out with a little less water in the brush my help save on soap. I have soap out the wahzoo so I enjoy making bowl of lather half the block could shave with after me. Even if you aren't shaving you can still experiment and make a few practice lathers. Sometimes my sons use it to play shave with me so it doesn't just go straight down the drain.
