Picked these up from a friendly internet distributor and was plesently suprised of how good a shave I got with these things they are certainly one of the better ones in my medicine cabinet.
Great blade -- Great price! This is one of the few blades that rivals my beloved Derby Extra as top-of-the-line performers for me. These blades don't last nearly as long as my Derbys (I can only get 2, maybe 3 shaves out of a 7am) but those 2 or 3 shaves are just as good as any DE blade I've ever tried.
since i have started (a month ago) i have had problems with skin irritation, i have had these blades since the begining but was hesitant to use having heard nothing of them, i have been missing out i got so little hasitation i have finaly gained the courage to take the next step and start my ATG passes with them! Got my first 90% BBS shave!!
7am, great blades if they work for you blades are so YMMV... For me, The Derby is still the all around winner for my face, beard and razors.... If you are still looking for that perfect blade for you, do give these 7am's a chance. I feel they fall in line of sharpness around the Isreali IP level just below a derby. if you use this particular scale to rate sharpness: Merkur-->IP-->Derby/Swede-->Feather... I like to travel to the sharper side of the spectrum, and the 7am performs 1000X better than the merkur, for me.
Super .. Prior to these blades I was using the Merkur blades. The 7AMS put the Merkur to shame. These 7AMS are my everyday blade now. They are extremely smooth, forgiving and sharp. There never seems to be any pull or tugging when I use these bad boys and hense, no irritation. These are sensational in just about every razor I've put them in. I've been using them now for 2+ months. They are great in my superspeed, Parker 22R, and Merkurs. I typically get 7 shaves per blade sometimes more. Frankly, I just change the blade every week because at 15 cents per blade, why skimp? I picked these up on Ebay from Howard1616 after receiving a few samples with a razor purchased along the way. So, I'm another very happy chappy here relative to these blades. They get my thumbs up.
cheap and effective 7am's feel sharper than some of the other blades I've been using lately (Israeli Persona, 7'O Clock Sharpedge, Crystal, Zorrik) but they're not as sharp as others (Treet Classic, Feather, Dorco, 7'O Clock Platinum). They're also smoother than most, although I still get some irritation on my neck. You can't beat the price, though. You can find 100 7am blades for between 10 and 15 bucks (american).
Good Blade for Newbies Tried this blade with a Merkur slant after using the enclosed merkur and derby blades. Sharpness is between the merkur and derby. Although this blade may require more passes than a derby my face actually feels better. Leaves the face nice and refreshed. For some reason I actually get a closer and fresher shave than the derby which surprised me. At a price of $12 for 100 blades the cost/benefit is outstanding. Depending on your whiskers one may be able to achieve one week of shaves. Great blade to practice angles.
My experience has been if the QC department put in a full day at the 7am factory you have a good shave coming and a blade that can sustain a sharp edge for a while. Unfortunately they appear to have an attendance problem and the quality suffers as a result. Approach with caution and enjoy it if you come across a good one.
I am not sure, there is lots of positive input here regarding these blades,IMHO I think they are trash, It maybe the box that I have, but they are horrible and perform very bad, with lots of pull, I had mediocore blades in the past but nothing like this, at this time I would not give these to any one even for free..It maybe that I got a crappy batch, as far as I am concerned... NOT recommended! price is good thats about all.
I use these in a Parker 89r razor and they are fabulous! Sharp and smooth, I get a great shave with no irritation. And they are not terribly expensive. What more can you ask for? They are in my top 5 favorite blades.
Smooth but not very sharp I used this blade in my Superspeed and it was very smooth, but not very sharp. I did a full four pass shave and only got passable. Not the best in a mild razor. If RAD kicks in and I get a more aggressive razor, I'm guessing these blades would do well.
