This winter weather is very weird lately here in Montreal - it's been very mild and a lot of the snow is gone, but let's not get fooled because it'll be back.

Here's my frigid set-up for:

Very few artisan soaps appeal to me, but this Nanny's soap is one of them because the scent is lovely, the lather is a pleasure to work with, and it's a real face-freezer. It's made in England by Nanny's Silly Soaps. The combination of the 444 balsam and Barbon aftershave intensify the iciness beautifully and give great skincare. The YSL eau de toilette has always been a top favorite of mine, but it's not so easy to find these days.

The Edwin Jagger DE89L always delivers a nice shave. I wish I could get this little guy in in something cool like rose gold. I have heard that the head on EJ razors are actually made by Muhle but the funny thing is, this razor feels different than my Muhle R106. It seems to be just a bit more mild and forgiving. The Kai blade I used was okay but it is just as expensive as a Feather blade and doesn't perform as well. There was a bit of tugging on the first pass but the second and third pass were good. I will probably keep my Kai blades as use them up but I don't think I will buy any more.

• Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
• Razor: Merkur Mergress XL
• Blade: Astra SP (2)
• Brush: GDCarrington Maple Apple Handle with Ace Shaving 22mm High Density Silvertip
• Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus with added menthol
• AS: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue with added menthol
• Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave

This makes Monday's worth looking forward too. I added so much menthol to the AS that even after washing my hands three times they are still tingling from the menthol chill. I cannot wait for the cold air to hit my face, that will be a wake up call.

After a few days with different razors am happy to get back on Muhle R41,my skin feels very calm after shaving this otherwise aggressive razor,I have no explanation for this fact,one pas+touch here and there and voala,nice and easy DFS+. For the first time, use these blades, very with positive impressions, perhaps because of the great protection that I provide Gadа Cool Mint,sent by my good friend Jeff!

It's really really cold this morning and I'm staying away from the Menthol products. If I want a face freeze, all I have to do is walk outside! lol

 

Not a nice shave today...
Started off by prelathering some artisan bath soap (which I got for Christmas from a colleague who was told it could be used as a shave soap...well it can't ) with lavender and sea salt. That ended up with some irritation due to the soap
After that lathering up some Lord Emofresh, which is great, nice thick lather, citrussy menthol smell, with a mild cooling sensation. Of course using the Semogue 2000 (loving it more than anything).
And then the Grand mistake (spelling "grand with a capital "g" on purpose here). I bought some Gillette Platinum blue's to try them with the Razzorock and the Shavette, I've used them before in the Wilkison Classic (where they performed OK), and I loaded the shavette...I don't see that happening again any time soon
Finished off with a cold water rinse, loads of alum, and a splash of Old Spice Original.
I haven't had this much irritation and weepers in a long, long time.

 

Maybe Col.Schick did invent a better "mouse trap"

Well today I did get that relaxing Schick Injector shave I've been talking about....After walking the tight-rope every day last week with the shavette....Today, I did the skin stretching the same, and woops!! ONE pass later BBS !! I wasn't looking for it honestly...I wanted 3 comfortable Injector passes...
But hey, it is perfect....I think the Shavette makes you so conscious of what you're doing, that when you later take a safety razor shave its like cruising in your favorite sports car....I'll take it, but now to try and keep my hands off my face in public....

Nice two pass DFS tonight. Second shave on the Polsilver and I don't know if it was my technique or something but the second shave wasn't as good as the first. Had to replace the blade halfway through the second pass and replace it with the ever reliable Israeli Red. On to the next blade.
