Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
    Razor: Mühle R89 Rosegold
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (2)
Brush: GDCarrington Maple Apple Handle with Ace Shaving 22mm High Density Silvertip
Soap: Proraso Aloe and Vitamin E (blue tube)
ASB: Nivea for Men Sensitive Post Shave Aftershave Balm (old formula)
AS: Vintage Mennen Skin Bracer Spice Scent
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave

The Mühle is yet another reason on why I need to reduce the amount of razors in my den. Even with my current rotation I am only using this once per week. I am pretty sure that using the Mühle so little is a sin (I am looking in the Book of Leviticus as I type). If I had to recommend just one modern fixed head razor this would be it.

I keep forgetting to post the Nivea ASB as part of my routine, but I use it every day during the winter months even if I forget to list it. I wish that Nivea would have kept this formula, luckily enough I should have enough to last me through a few more winters.

This vintage Skin Bracer Spice scent has become a favorite after just one use. I really need to find a modern scent that is close to it, as the smell is nothing like anything I have tried yet. I pick up notes of vanilla clove, tobacco and the slightest amount of musk, it is really a lovely yet manly smell.

When I got home yesterday there was a package waiting for me from Above The Tie. :) It was my "R" baseplate for the Titan razor. The "R" stands for "regular" and it is for guys with normal beards. I found that it was still plenty aggressive and I might rate it as slightly more aggressive than a Merkur 34C HD. Even with the Regular baseplate, the Titan still provides plenty of audible feedback. I went with the Astra blade as that is the blade Stan recommends with his razor. However, next time I think I will go for a sharper blade with this baseplate. The razor worked really well for me and I ended up with a very close shave. No problems on the chin area either. I love the unique scent of the Musgo products. Lately though, I seem have developed a bit of sensitivity to the Musgo shaving cream. :( Three passes today for an easy BBS finish.

    Cheers, Lyndon

Today is looking to be a fun day. Half day from work, Sesame street live with my daughter later and a mid day shave. Best Wednesday I've had in a long time. The shave itself was good. Still trying to find the perfect blade with my SS and sadly it is not the Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp. It made it through three passes but still left me with a DFS. I keep wanted to go back to the Personna Reds. I think I may start the experiment over again but with a different razor. the Personna Reds are just to darn good in this SS.
  11. Wednesday Shave.
    Prep: Pure Almond Oil

    AfterShave: Old Spice.

Had dialed one notch higher today to check how far I can get comfy shave, DFS today as well, the neck area seems bit tricky for me with this fatboy.

  14. I'm finishing my 'Product Annihilation Project' and I have only 1 item left for now before total reloading of my current rotation. So the rest of the week the set up will be the same as yesterday's
Merkur 23C/Gillette Super Thin (or other razor)
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
Williams mug soap/Palmolive shave stick remnants in a tub
    Cold water splash
Fitjar Miklagard ASC (or other AS)
Nice shave despite the fact I was short on time. Again.

A great BBS shave this morning with no effort - my Super Speed/7 AM combination always delivers the smoothness and comfort for me. The Barbon cream from Hungary is a pleasure to use - it has a really nice scent, it lathers ultra-richly, and it gives good protection against irritation and razor burn. Its corresponding aftershave is a menthol bomb! ;) :D

  19. Shave of the Day (SOTD) Thursday January 17, 2013
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
Razor: Mühle R89 Rosegold with Matador Open Comb Base Plate
    Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (1)
    Brush: Semogue 1438 Boar
    • Soap: De Vergulde Hand Extra Fris made into "croap"
ASB: Nivea for Men Sensitive Post Shave Aftershave Balm (old formula)
    AS: Aqua Velva Musk
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave

If Mühle was to release another open comb I hope that it would be similar to this. The base plate of the Matador paired with the the rest of the R89 makes a very nice combination. This provided a milder shave than the Matador, but is more aggressive than the 2010 R41. A very efficient shave that does not suffer from any harshness.

The De Vergulde Hand is very good as a soap but made into a "croap" it becomes something magical. It takes less than a 10 seconds of loading to have more than enough soap on your brush to provide enough lather for more than 3 passes. I typically face lather with the 1438, but today I bowl lathered. I am glad that I did as the resulting lather was extremely luxurious, slick and left my skin feeling as soft as rose petals.

In retrospect I should have used a different aftershave, but oh well...God willing there is always another day for shaving.

I don't really care for this blade. It's better in the Muhle R41 vs the EJ DE89L. I'll give it a few more shaves, but think the Gillette SharpEdge provides me a smoother shave.
