I find it ironic...

...that so many people say that The Art of Shaving's creams are "overpriced", but happily throw down $30 for a tub of Trumper. Or, are these not the same people? LOL.

Not sure, but I don't think most folks are talking about the shaving cream per se.

Well, I have a sampler kit coming my way to see how I like their stuff - preshave oil, cream, aftershave balm and brush.

I received some AoS cream and soap for Christmas and have used the cream at least ten times and the soap around five times.
I like both, they're actually pretty nice.
Some guys complain about the clay smell in the soap. I do detect the clay, but I find it pleasant enough.

Most of the posts I've read say that AOS soaps and creams are top notch and some of the best stuff available. I've never tried it but I'd like to get a jar of the lemon cream one day.

You want to talk expensive take a look at XPEC or MDC.

Their badger brushes and razors are overpriced, as is their pre-shave oil, etc.
150 grams AoS shaving cream $25
200 grams Trumpers shaving cream $30
Trumpers is cheaper than AoS, gram for gram at that price.

And Trumper's can be purchased for a little over $25 if you know where to order it from. Trumper's is made in the UK and imported, which adds a bit to the price as well. Where is AoS cream made?
Edit: AoS is made in England as well. I'm sure it's not much of a walk from Trumper's vats to AoS's vats, seeing as both are made by Creighton, along with T&H, The Real Shaving Co., and The Maca Root Shave Cream by The Body Shop.

I'm not a big shaving cream fan as I prefer soaps but AoS soaps are about as good as it gets, IMO. There are some other soaps that are about "as good as it gets" for less money and some for more. Right now, I can get 2 1/2 pucks of my favorite soap for the cost of one puck of AoS and I'm not giving up performance. Life is short, use what you enjoy and can afford.

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

Even my T&H is cheaper than AOS.

You say that like Trufitt & Hill is some sort of exclusive, luxury brand that English nobility uses.

    Heh.;)

Ryan, where are you seeing that? I happened to look at my AoS Ocean Kelp jar last night and saw it was made in the US. Here's some images I just found online:

Droll sarcasm just does not convey well when typed out. I'm glad you caught it though, Oscar. :D

So for anyone who missed it, yes, T&H is used by the nobility and the royal family in the UK.

It used to be made in the UK. Typical Gillette, they send everything overseas. If not to China, then to the U.S.

I wonder if they switched to the US when they reformulated.

ETA: I believe this is the case:
