That is weird, but I use more product than usual when it comes to La Toja Sensitive. I haven't tried the stick yet.

Thanks! That Fuller Restoration with the stand is so tight of a fit, that only the 20 mm synthetic would really allow the knot to work in the stand.
That was a more difficult restore due to the fact that the glue reactivates on heating and is messy and gummy. However, when the old knot was freed and the new was inserted and epoxied, the results were worth the work.

Todd was kind enough to send a nice variety of the sample sized jar of TOBS. I have yet to try a scent that I have not liked, and the lavender is no exception. While building the lather my nostrils filled with the scent of lavender that smells freshly picked from a garden, not like some artificial scent you normally find in a cream. Just another wow moment, I really love this stuff. So a big thank you to Todd for both the cream samples and for enabling me into an area of this hobby I thought I would avoid, luxury creams

The SuperMax SP was the first blade that I had ever used in a short comb NEW, I am glad to have them back in rotation again.

Excellent shave today, I would rate it a 9 out of 10.

In honor of my Sicilian heritage, I decided to go all out Italian today. (well, for the most part)

I've had these feather blades for over a month now but was afraid to use them. they have a reputation for being very sharp, and I have a few cuts, scrapes that I'm trying to let heal (on my head) due to experimenting with Merkur, Bolzano, Derby, Astra, and a few others. I'm relatively new to this, been wetshaving since Christmas so you can understand my reluctance.


I've got to say...this was my best shave ever! 3 pass BBS with few touch-ups.
No cuts, nicks, or weepers. The alum bloc did not sting at all. I almost forgot i used it.
I might have just found my "Go To" blade.

My skin is glowing and feels great. No bumps or red spots at all on my neck. It took about 45 minutes to shave my face and head today. Its Saturday, no need to rush anything.

My first go with the R41. Woke up nice and early to have plenty of time. 3 day growth to deal with.

Excellent 2 pass shave. WTG then XTG. What a beast this razor is. Certainly seems to demand respect. If you lose concentration for a moment you'll pay in blood. Fortunately I survived unscathed.

My handful of shaves with the GEM 1912, I feel prepared me well for this. Slow and easy. No pressure.

R41 is a definite keeper for me.

Thanks! I was looking for a Red Tip to revamp when I spotted this one on the Razor Emporium website. The price was about what it would have cost me to buy a decent one and have it replated. It really is an awesome razor if you have hard whiskers. The Red Tip was designed to be more aggressive than the regular SS. Then there is the Blue Tip which is less aggressive than a normal SS.

It's a great razor, I really love it.

Yeah, I think a lot of the Feather hype is just hogwash. A "dull" blade can cause just as much if not more grief than a nice sharp blade like the Feather. I have very hard, water-resistant whiskers. A very good combination for me is a very sharp blade in a mild razor. Say, the Feather blade in the EJ DE89L. I find it quite difficult to use the less sharp brands like a Dorco. I am forever snagging my skin, especially on my chin. I say, keep an open mind and just keep experimenting until there is no hope...

No hope for your whiskers, that is!!

I had to get up a bit early so I needed a reasonable quick shave. However, I also wanted to finish off some of my samples which have been hanging around far too long. I know the Merkur 34C HD is recommended to beginners however, my suggestion would be for a newbie to get an Edwin Jagger razor instead. They are more mild than the Merkur and cheaper than the Muhle razors. I think I was pushing it a bit to use the Iridium blade for a forth shave and I ended up with a small nick on the chin.

I am on a week's holiday so I will be heading off to Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand. My next shave will be in LOS, or the Land of Smiles.

When I packed for this trip, I brought along some products I am trying to use up. I need more space in my shave cabinet, LOL! The Lord blade in the FaTip wasn't the best combination. I find with the Piccolo, I have to use either a very shallow or very steep blade angle. Anything in between and it just doesn't seem to cut very well. I think this razor would be better with a sharper blade so next time I will try a Feather or maybe a Kai. Pretty good shave but (again) I took it on the chin with another nick. I can say that I cut or nick myself no more than I did with a cartridge razor so I can't complain when I see the occasional bit of red. The shave was close but a difficult one. More practice will be required before I am proficient with the Piccolo. And if I can't find the groove, the razor will be sold.

Gillette Fat Handled Tech delivered very good shave,gently, but effectively enough with proper technique (in my case XTG,ATG,ATG). Lord Emofresh is wonderful cream,I always got thick and slick lather from it.

• Soap: DVH stick
• Razor: Rolls Razor
• Shave: 3-pass + touch-up
• Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse

Really enjoyable shave. The DVH gives a great lather, the Travel King whips it up wonderfully and the Rolls... Well... You know. Just great. I could shave with my eyes closed. I did. Not all of it, but from time to time I just close them. It's a joy.
