L_p0012672129.jpg DSCN1436.jpg diana_balsam.jpg glacial.jpg Freezing cold weather here in the city of Montreal, more snow is expected, (I hate it!) and tomorrow is one of my top-favorite days because it's:

    Menthol Monday:

Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    #6 Horsehair
    Super Speed/new Goal
TSD Iced Subzero SS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Diana Sport Menthol Balsam :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    YSL Pour Homme EDT

If this set-up doesn't freeze a man's face, nothing will - this Gatsby facial wash feels like a triple dose of liquid nitrogen, and it lasts even after washing it off with hot water. JoAnna's Gold Medal winning ISZ soap has been a favorite of mine ever since she introduced it as a replacement to her Avalanche soap which is also very good, and the Diana Sport balsam and the Penguin are two of the most potently mentholated products you can find. ;) :D

    Monday
Hot whisker rinse for close to 2 mins.
    Arko Shave Stick/Omega 10029
    Sedef Shavette/Perma-Sharp Super d2
    1955 Schick Hydro-magic/EMS d2
    Old Spice/Arko 'Cool' ASB

This seems to be my new regimen...2 passes with the Shavette and a clean up pass with the Injector....The pass with the injector is like wiping lather off a clean shaven face, but here or there around the edges I might hear a whisker or two being cut...:)

Irritation free BBS....I feel I'm definitely over the hump with the shavette...Thank You Shave Den....:happy108:

    Proraso pre original
    Omega 35 Boar
    Trumper's GFT SC
    Feather SE blade
    Valet VC2 OC autostrop razor
    Thayer's superhazel
    Endymion AS balm

I finally gave the Valet VC2 a whirl. Aggressive bugger. My razor got all gummed up likely due to glue on the blade. I'll need to wipe it off next time. After a great 1st pass, my 2nd pass seemed odd - cutting would suddenly cease and the razor kept getting all gunky.

I also used the Omega 35 boar for the first time after having broken it in a little previously.

A reasonable shave in the end but with some minor irritation in the neck region

DFS, BBS except for spots on either side of my neck that I can never get BBS, no weepers and no irritation

I didn't shave yesterday and since I started DE shaving I haven't gone too many days without. The shaves seem even nicer when you take off a couple days growth. I used Neutrogena Body Oil as a PSO, Van Der Hagen Deluxe soap, Omega Pure Badger brush, and Muhle R89 with a German Wilkinson Sword. Got a wonderful 3-pass BBS with no touch-ups needed, no blood and no irritation. I think my technique is finally getting decent. I almost could have quit after the 2nd pass if it weren't for those stubborn whiskers on my jaw and chin. A little skin stretching on the ATG pass takes care of them though.

    • 3P PSC
    • TSD M-Bomb (menthol additive)
    • Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
    • Semogue SOC Boar Brush
    • Titan Razor - H1 Head (aggressive)
    • Voskhod Blade (1)
    • Vifrex ASG
    • Barbon ASL
I was wondering what to do for Menthol Monday during MWF week. Of course the solution was easy. TSD M-Bomb to the rescue! The Fat was pretty good with a bit of menthol. The Semogue SOC did a great job of producing a very good lather. The Titan shaves closer than any other closed comb razor I have. Three passes with this bad boy gives a super smooth BBS shave every time. I am not sure it the Voskhod is the best blade for this razor but it did manage to get the job done. Vifrex and Barbon for a chilly finish.

    Cheers, Lyndon

    Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Shower: Speick soap and Mikes Natural Soaps shampoo bar
Razor: 1932 Canadian Fat-handle Tech on left side, 1932 Canadian bakelite handle Tech on right side
Blade: New Voskhod in each razor for saturdays shave
    Brush: VDH boar
Soap/Cream: CO Bigelow SC with M-Bomb added
ASB: Gillette Series After Shave Lotion
    Cologne: M&L Florida Water

Been experimenting again. I started with new blades, and used them for 3 days. With all things equal, except the handles, after three shaves I've come to a conclusion. For me, both razors shave the same, but the bakelite Tech just feels better. Pressure on the face from the razors weight, and the grippiness in the hand are the most noticable differences. I think I like the razors weight to be in the head not the handle. I'm also becoming partial to the 3-piece Tech razors, although I'd never give up my Superspeeds or my Krona.

Cadet TP-13 TTO w/Personna Medical Blade
    Proraso PSC
    Proraso SC
    Omega 31064 Boar
    Thayer's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    Aqua Velva Musk ASL/Cologne

The Personna Meds are really awesome blades. Very sharp and smooth performance. Using the Cadets the last few days; this one I call the sparkle stick. The tiny little mirror surfaces on the handle catch the light and sparkle when it's being used. I will probably leave this TP-13 for my Son when I visit in March.
