Williams Wednesday! (02-13-13) * Shower • Soap: Irish Spring original bar soap • Shampoo: Head & Shoulders 2n1 Hair Endurance * Shave • Pre-Shave: Hot shower, Nivea Face Scrub • Razor: Merkur 180 Long Handle • Blade: Wilkinson Sword • Brush: Van Der Hagen Boar • Soap: Williams Mug Soap • Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG, XTG (opposite direction) • Post-Shave: Warm water rinse, Cold water rinse, T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel, Gillette Aftershave Lotion for Sensitive Skin, Aqua Velva Ice Blue • Blood report: A few small nicks on the neck area This is the first time I've used Williams alone without superlathering in quite some time. I had no problems whatsoever lathering it. It produced a nice lather. Cushion was there, however the razor glide not so much. I found the glide was subpar on the neck area, which resulted in a few small nicks on the neck. I thought I was gonna have some burn on the neck, I was scared to death to put on the Aqua Velva, but it actually wasn't bad. I feel pretty good now, close shave. DFS. VDH boar soaking in the mug with the Williams puck. Also, my VDH bowl warming up in the sink Nice Williams lather Williams lather on the face My weapons used today
Happy Valentine's Day! 4/8 Rebell from herzi Vie-Long horsehair brush De Vergulde Hand soap (LOVE it!) Cold water splash Tet-a-tet ASB A nice shave. 4/8 with square point is very maneuverable. Both of my goto razors has square points and just love them!
Arley, supposedly the SuperMax Classic contains menthol - do you feel any? I sure don't, but the SuperMax Menthol cream does, and let me tell you bro - it's plenty cold!
Ten shaves was about the limit for that blade, so it was a new one for this mornings shave. I generally get 7-10 shaves with the Chinese Schick blades.
Amazing! I get jealous when I hear that because I only get 2-3 shaves out of a blade. But then again, I also shave my head.
Wednesday: DE89 Head w/iKon Bulldog Handle Derby Blade MWF Simpsons Duke 2 Best Badger No. 4711 A/S Just packing my small overnight bag before getting back to the duty desk so Thursday/Friday will be: DE89 Head w/iKon Bulldog Handle Feather Blade LaToja Shave Stick Simpsons Wee Scot Aqua Velva Musk
Not really that amazing - I only get 2-3 saves out of most DE blades myself. The injector (and all SE blades) are quite a bit thicker and stiffer than DE blades, and seem to hold an acceptable edge longer.
Thursday: #6 Horsehair Super Speed/Goal day 4 Kool Frosty SC Svoboda AS Balsam Osage Rub AS YSL Pour Homme EDT Thank goodness for my Super Speed because it not only gives me very smooth and comfortable shaves, it also lets me shave fast if necessary. If I were to try that with a Merkur Futur, my face would be cut to pieces. The Kool Frosty cream from Bangladesh lives up to its name and gives a great cooling sensation with crazy-rich lather, and how can I not love the Svoboda balsam and the Rubba Dubba Doo? Sorry, no photos today!
J. Rodgers & Sons TOBS Lavender SS 23mm WSP HMW knot @50mm I really like these old stiffer ground straights, great shavers for me personally. Very nice shave this morning. Soap, razor and brush, everything worked like it was suppose to. Have a good one. BTW, I'm going to raise the loft a couple of mm for tomorrows shave, superb knot, IMO. pic upload
Thursday soak brush/Omega Mixed Midget hot shower Proraso PrePost Cream (Green) The Fat Gillette Gold Tech/Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (1) warm water rinse Monster Block Alum cool water rinse Thayer's Original WH SCS Blue Line First shave with a Tech, other than my Ranger Tech which I think is a different razor.Great shave, face and head BBS,it's a mild but very efficient razor, more forgiving as far as angle than a Feather AS-D01.
Hey buddy, I do not feel any menthol, and if there is, my face is too accustomed to much colder products to notice any. I am still trying to locate a the Menthol version since you so highly recommend it. In my opinion, this is a very underrated cream....put it in a tub, stick a fancy label on it, and people would pay two to three times the amount for it.
Shave of the Day (SOTD) Thursday February 14, 2013 • Prep: Brush soaked in hot water, hot shower • Razor: Mühle R89 Rose Gold • Blade: Polsilver Stainless (2) • Brush: Custom Bob Farvour Grade A Silvertip • Cream: Erasmic Lather Shave Cream • AS: Aqua Velva Musk • Post: Cold Water Rinse, splash of aftershave First use of the Bob Farvour brush...this brush puts everything else I own to shame. The Polsilver Stainless really makes the R89 shine, great combo.
I took the day off work today and was thinking about not shaving. But my new Weber Bulldog came in last night and nobody could resist that now, could they? It's a very nice shaver. The head is very similar to my Muhle R89 but the safety bar sticks out just a bit more. I imagine that may keep me from getting too steep on the blade angle which should be nice with very sharp blades? I did get one small nick under my nose but overall a very close comfortable shave. I've been noticing the last few days that my WTG pass technique is getting pretty good. So good that my XTG pass wasn't really taking much more off. It was the same today so I decided to go right to ATG. It worked pretty well for me and I think I'll try that out again tomorrow. Cutting out that XTG pass will speed up my shave when I need to get out the door in the morning. Prep: Warm washcloth and Neutrogena Body Oil Brush: Omega Pure Badger Lather: VDH Deluxe Razor: Weber Bulldog, polished head (1) - I hope you get my attempt at humor there Blade: Lord Platinum Class (1) - A decent blade for me but feels a little rougher than Astras or Wilkies, especially on the first shave. AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Took the day off to be with my little girl for Valentine's Day and wanted to make sure I got a good smooth shave in for her. Valentine's Day Shave Hot Shower Arko Shave Stick/Omega 10029 Sedef Shavette/Perma-Sharp Super d1 1955 Schick Injector I2/EMS d? Arko-Nem moisturizer/Old Spice AS Today being Valentines I really wanted a great shave...I think using this Shavette everyday has taken it's toll on my neck...Very Red and shave bump laden...I'm afraid I've been bad and now will have to pay the price.... But I might not have to miss a day or two....I can always count on a safe irritation free BBS from my Schick!! Maybe my Schick Injector will break me out of the Joint and I'll incarcerate the Shavette instead...
