Happy Valentines Day Hot Shower Hasling honing Semogue 1325 Gillette Super Adjustable Big Ben Two passes today for a great DFS
No pics today... Tabac face lathered with the Semogue 2000 and then scraped off in three passes with the Razorrock OC loaded with the M-Man blade on it's second day of duty. Stiptic pencil worked a little today but nothing alarming, just two weepers (can't seem to get rid of those lately). Afterwards a generous splash of Pitralon classic. End result, a quite comfortable BBS. The Pitralon didn't burn at all, and my face doesn't resemble a red baboon's behind so I guess not counting the weepers this was a irritation free shave

My dad wanted me to post his shave for him. He says he doesn't have time to "play around" on the computer, so he tells me what he needs and I get it for him. Prep: Hot shower, Grooming Lounge Shave Oil. Brush: MY Whipped Dog silver tip. Razor: '63 Gillette Slim. Blade: Israeli Personna (his favorite blade.) Cream: Proraso Green Old Formula tube. Post: Cold water rinse, Task Essential AS balm. He really likes my brush. I helped him order one today. He also said that he really likes Proraso, but likes the green better than the white because it's more cooling. I know guys, I'm trying to get him to join here, he said "Maybe when I'm retired in a few months."
Hey Haboub, I will be happy to give your Dad some helpful advice on some other wetshaving items, such as creams and soaps. As we say in Hebrew yiyeh beseder! (translation: it'll be ok!)
My man, truthfully the SuperMax Classic's scent is where the menthol is at - at least to me. It definitely has a cool scent, but not a cooling effect on the skin. Now: the Menthol version of SuperMax smells like a peppermint candy or like a Vicks cough drop and when you lather up with it, the menthol effect starts by the time you begin your first pass and by the time you start the second one, you know you're shaving with a menthol cream. There was a guy who told me the cream is not for him - he said it was a cheap garbage with a lousy scent. If I'd see this guy in person, I would laugh right in his face and give him the finger - this cream is AWESOME. My bro Veli in Bulgaria is an expert on Bulgarian creams, and if he says something is good, he knows what he's talking about!
He's a minimalist. I have way more stuff than he does but I let him use all my stuff. Out of all the stuff he has tried, the Proraso green in the tube is his favorite. I know he loves menthol, so I will have to find him a menthol filled AS balm.
Valentine's Day Shave: Prep: Hot shower, TBS Tea Tree face wash, Billy Jealousy Volcanic scrub. Brush: Whipped Dog silver tip. Razor: Schick Krona. Blade: Personna Med Prep. Cream/Soap: Proraso White and TSD sensitive cream added in for a super lather. Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, Floid Blue. This shave was pretty decent. It has been awhile since I've done a super lather; but this one didn't disappoint. When I was making my lather I looked away for a few seconds. When I looked back my mug was over flowing with lather. It was very slick, lots of cushion, and the blade floated effortlessly. Hopefully this shave makes up for the rough shaves I had last weekend.
Friday Uber-lather: Arko Max.Comf Cream/Arko Shave Stick Omega 10029 1955 Schick Hydro-magic/EMS-d? Old Spice AS/Acqua di Parma Colonia Neck still red from the last 2 weeks of daily Shavette abuse ...So once again...Col.Schick to the rescue... Today's Injector shave was as always...so close, so easy, and irritation free... PS; In all fairness though...I have to add...when I was doing 2 WTG passes with the Shavette and 1 ATG clean-up pass with my Schick Injector I was getting the closest shaves of my life and irritation free....I just couldn't resist going for those ATG passes with the Shavette, and those consistantly left me with razor rage...
Friday: #6 Horsehair Super Speed/Goal day 5 Godrej Menthol Mist SC 444 AS Balsam Barbon AS YSL Pour Homme EDT The Goal blade is starting to show some signs of fatigue but I still managed a great BBS shave without very much effort. I still cannot believe that the Godrej Menthol Mist cream was discontinued - it's so fantastic. Thank goodness I have a back-up. The 444 balsam and the Barbon aftershave are a perfect way to continue a menthol freeze!
I did a few things this morning that are out of the norm for me. First off, I did a hot water shave with a scuttle, used a super lather with some vintage Williams that I added menthol and eucalyptus to with a dab of Italian Palmolive. The first pass was a little on the dry side (lather) but ended up with a very good shave. I've gotten away from menthol soaps/creams in the last couple of years but sure enjoyed it this morning. You just can't beat a cold water rinse after using a menthol soap or cream. Have a good one. image ru
