nannys_ice_and_slice.jpg diana_balsam.jpg 2_h240.png There is no point in complaining about winter here in the North-East because it'll be here for a while yet, so let's just have fun with our shaves. Here's my face-freezing set-up for:

    Menthol Monday:
Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    #6 Horsehair
    Super Speed/new Goal
    Nanny's Ice & a Slice SS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Diana Sport Menthol Balsam :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Barbon AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    YSL Pour Homme EDT

This is one of the most fabulous and frigid face-freezing set-ups a menthol lover like me can plan because each item is around equally as cold. The Gatsby Ice Cooling facial wash begins the iciness, and then a shave with the Ice & a Slice reinforces it, the Diana Sport intensifies it significantly, and the Barbon aftershave adds a final powerful arctic chill. That's the secret to a Cracky Wacky Ticky Tacky Menthol Monday Shave! ;) :D

Well that seems to be it...It took 6 weeks to learn how to Shavette shave....I started on Jan.7th when Steve called for 'Str8' week...With Steve's motivation I commited...I'll tell you, it is a commitment not to be taken lightly..."There Will Be Blood"...But the rewards are waiting at the end of that learning curve...;) I would not presume to state I've mastered this, but I am getting the closest shaves with little to no irritation...and with not that much effort...It's now relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable...Thanks Steve for the 'push'...:)

    Today I did 1-WTG/1-XTG/2-ATG= BBS!!

I didn't need 2 ATG passes but I discovered a new way of holding the razor half way through the first ATG pass so I did another one to solidify the new "Move"...It makes getting the sides of my 'Adam's Apple' ; a former problem area; a snap...it also really cleans that bottom lip area so easily...

PS...BTW, I had lost interest in the Astra blades with my DE razors, but I'm getting great shaves with them in this shavette...
I also discovered today, after my shave...that an injector blade will fit this Shavette aswell...You just have to be careful lining it up...but then its cool...so tomorrow I'll be trying a Long's Drugs/Personna Injector blade...I can't wait....

Even after 3+ years I am still revisiting blades from old sampler packs I previously disliked. Unlike the Supermax Super Stainless, which I consider quite sharp and smooth, I found the Titanium to be very harsh in years past. Today, it still seemed harsh, but less so. Will revisit these again later, much later.

True confessions, I've been using a scuttle and hot water for the last few days and loving it. Very nice shave this morning, smooth and close. I've been enjoying playing around with creams too, some have absolutely superb skin care which is really nice in the winter. It helps with dry skin. Have a good one.

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Merkur/Menthol Monday February 18, 2013
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaked in hot water, warm shower
Razor: Merkur 37C HD Slant Bar
    Blade: SuperMax Super Platinum (1)
    Brush: Semogue Cherrywood SOC Boar
Soap: Proraso Shave Menthol and Eucalyptus with added menthol
ASB: Nivea for Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm (old formula)
    AS: Mennen Skin Bracer
Post: Cold Water Rinse, splash of aftershave

The SuperMax SP really performed well in the 37C...I do not think any blade is going to perform bad in it to be honest. I just love it, best razor purchase that I have made so far.

I do not understand the fear of this razor, I do not even know how I could cut myself with it. It is mild on your skin, yet efficient in the amount of stubble that is reduced.

Tomorrow I am going to take a break from it and use something else...but I really do not want too ;)
