SoS: February 18, 2013 - February 24, 2013

So, after the facial filet that the Humble Twin blessed me with today, it left me with unbearable razor burn. I couldn't take it any longer. I went and washed my face with Nivea Face Wash with hot water and rinsed with warm water and rinsed again with cold water, then reapplied some witch hazel and let it air dry. Then I put on a generous coating of Nivea Creme on my face and neck and then put some Walgreens Cocoa Butter lotion on top of it. I gotta say my face fire has been distinguished. Thank God.

Lol I thought about that dollar shave club for a few seconds then I saw that razor on their site and decided not to lol

 

Lol. Yeah. It's a pretty good deal for what it is, if for some ridiculous reason DE shaving isn't someone's cup of tea, then I'd recommend giving it a try (possible the 4x is a little on the heftier side). I respect the hell out of them for doing what they do though.

The Perma-Sharp Supers and Astra SP's both gave great shaves in this Shavette but I believe these Injector blades a a "cut above" (pun-intended)...It seems the injector blades are even a touch forgiving, maybe similar to a straight...One time I was talking and touched down with the razor at too sharp an angle and had a "Gotcha" moment...with a 1/2 DE blade loaded that would have been a cut...but with the injector blade...'nothing'!! And yet when making a pass, the Injector blades are sharper, and 1 pass gives me the same results as 2 with a DE blade in this razor....although both do an exceptionally close shave...put since I can get away with one less pass, that equals cooler, less chance of irritation...

Second day with the Mama Bear "Bear Ice" soap. I like warm lather so normally I have the bowl sitting in some hot water in the sink. However, between the first and second pass I left the bowl out on the counter. The soap and brush got a bit cool and I found that the brush bristles were firmer and it was harder to produce additional lather. So... guess the MB soap and my SOC brush like the heat too. The '47 Super Speed, as usual, had no trouble delivering a close and comfortable BBS shave. Musgo brothers for the finish.

Wow, what an awesome shave again today - the cooling sensation from the Solo Menthol cream is very mild, however it can be felt. It lathers great and smells nice, and leaves the skin feeling well-moisturized. The Tabiano gel also has a mild cooling effect with wonderful skincare, and the Max Refreshing aftershave is a face-freezer!

Second full shave with the straight, I'm really starting to like this 2 full N-S passes; I can't go N-S on my neck (ATG) with a DE unless I've already gone over a couple times W/X - with the straight I had no problem attacking 2 days growth ATG right off the bat. This makes me happy because I still haven't quite figure out how to go S-N (WTG) on my neck. No cuts (knock on wood), just one irritated area on my neck that I had some trouble positioning for. All in all another decent straight shave.

First morning in a week that I have felt half-way human. They say to "fight a cold with cold" so extra doses of menthol laden products are in the game plan for this mornings shave. lol

First time using a shave stick so beforehand I reviewed the shave stick tutorial. I was amazed at my first face lather the lather exploded onto my face. I loved it. I also tried j hooking off of mantics advanced shaving techniques. There was blood lol I even managed to cut my earlobe. I realized then I was an idiot to try that on a 6 setting on my futur haha. Still got a dfs but will probably avoid shaving for a day or two to let my face heal.

As my rotation now is rather small, I found some winning combos, which I enjoy. Williams/Palmolive/Fitjar ASC is one of them. Nice and very pleasant shave, despite I had little time for it.

 

Sorry for the lack of posting. Getting ready for several things at work has given me anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 seconds of time lately.

Third and last day for the Mama Bear sample. The Bear Ice soap has been very nice and I will definitely be putting it on my shopping list. The big H.I.S synthetic brush worked particularly well with the MB soap. I had a huge amount of nicely scented lather. The first time I used a Blue Personna blade I didn't think it was all that great. But today, it performed quite well even on the third use. Although it's a reasonably good blade I doubt I will be buying any in the future. I prefer a very sharp blade. Nice cool finish again today with the Vifrex and the menthol-enhanced Figaro.
