And Spring is right around the corner! This week's Theme Week is dedicated to the Gillette Tech. Be it a Ball End, Fat Handle, or Travel Tech, these razors deserve a spot in every shave den. As a matter of fact, my first vintage DE was a Ball End Tech. I PIF'd it some time back, but realizing I missed it, I soon replaced it. Share the love this week with your Tech!
Have two ball ends, use them every week. The no date Gold is a tad gentler than the B-3, love them both The No date (49-51) goes in my travelers bag, yet I find myself digging it out, and using it.
I started Tech week early. I don't really like trying a razor I've never used before on Monday morning. So I got my Fat Handled Tech out and shaved with it today for the first time. I was sort of holding out on using it - saving it for this week. Definitely the mildest razor I've ever used. Did 3 passes and got a nice comfortable DFS.

My first DE razor was a 53 ball tech, it was dad'a and he gave it to me a couple years ago. I recently was gifted a 64 travel size ball tech that my dad had put up and forgotten about, he gave it too me a couple months ago when he was cleaning out his desk. Last week I bought a no date fat handle tech off of Ebay. For this week I will use all three.
I'm loving my Tech I just bought at an antique store on the weekend for cheap. Had my first shave with it this morning, with derby blade, and what a comfortable mild shave! The first non-blood shave I've had for awhile now, so happy not to shed blood for once! I didn't go full BBS as I'm still working on technique but I got a wonderful clean shave. How cool to shave with such an old razor!
Aluminum handle Tech (birth year/quarter) Astra SP blade LaToja shave stick Every-Ready 200 w/TGN 22mm Super Badger knot Citron AS Waiting on a Fat Handle and another Ball End to arrive (don't tell my wife) ...hopefully they show up before the end of the week. update: Turns out, the Astra SP, while a great blade in several of my razors, is not the best with the Tech for me. Going to have to load something else....
I really like the Tech. Incredibly mild but still very effective. I did 3 passes on my face and 4 on my neck and jawline today and got an incredibly comfortable DFS. I probably would have called it a BBS a month ago but my standards are getting higher . I've been using my wife's new conditioner on my beard in the shower the past few days and this stuff is great. My whiskers sort of fall off as I wave the razor over them. Seriously, it makes the whiskers noticeably softer than any of her other conditioners I've tried. She got it at Target. Prep: Hot shower and conditioner Lather: VDH Deluxe Brush: VDH Boar (White Handle) Razor: NDC Fat Handle Tech Blade: Personna stainless store-brand AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
My Ball End Tech is my go to razor. I bought it NOS a few months ago. It was made in 1959 in Argentina.

Today's shave same as yesterday's. I really like this conditioner prep. My Personna blade still feels good after its 3rd shave and usually that's when they seem to get rough so I think this conditioner softening is working.
Tuesday Gold Tech/Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (4) It may be mild but I always get a nice BBS,Face and Dome. Not sure if a Ranger Tech actually counts as a official Tech but it'll see action this week
Can't complain about the shave I got today. Not sure if my face agrees with TOBS yet, I used their ShaveShop scent today and it smells amazing. Lucky Tiger aftershave splash and then a small drop of Skin food (sandalwood).
Second shave today with my Gold Tech. Had the most relaxing shave I remember. Gave myself extra time and got a DFS, nearly BBS. I am very happy for getting a shave like this, gives me confidence ready to meet the world. Also was the first time I used my Prosaso pre-shave cream, wow, felt so good! A splash of Panaud's Special Reserve was the perfect finale, I LOVE the scent, although my wife says I smell like I was at the Lion's Club!
Oh, I guess I'll have to pull out the travel tech in the mornin'. Just can't bring myself to use the NOS Psycho
It really is a great razor, this is my goto razor and I can't decide if I like the way this one shaves or my 'new' open comb Gillette better. It's a very mild shave, but more then capable of a BBS. This is a great razor for someone who has to shave daily. I liked this razor so much better I sold my EJ89LBL last week to a friend because I didn't need it anymore.
