I can't help you with the indentification...But if the "shop owner" won't let you see it, I'd personally would buy anything from him anyway....whats he hiding??

well, he didn't know the exact model either. And he do not want to ruin the packaging should I not want to purchase it.

How do you know it's a straight razor? Dovo also makes shears, scissors, manicure sets, etc.

I believe we have a TSD member from Germany but can't think of his name right now. That would be your best bet to wait to see if he sees this post. Maybe those 3 words in German there would be a hint to whats inside the box. Maybe not.

Additionally, what is it priced at? That could help.

I don't know much about straight razors, but every post I've seen with a box has a long narrow box like this.

Fabrik feiner Stahwahren just means manufacturer of fine steelgoods, but it's been a lot of years since my German classes.

I would be very suspicious if the owner wouldn't open the box for you and show you what was inside, even if he didn't want you to open it. If he's that worried about the box, he must be asking a lot for it.

www.whippeddog.com or www.gemstartcustoms.com are the two sites we recommend here to buy your first straight from.

Research the store name. See what the net says about him!

Yup. Sounds a little fishy to me.
What's his return policy? If it's 100% satisfaction guaranteed or ALL money back, give it a shot. Dovo is a good name.

    I'm thinking scissors.

Fabrik feiner stahlwaren translates loosely to fine steel factory.

Hey guys. I managed to get the owner to show me his own blade that he sold. It looks like this. Any idea what this is?

Vintage Henckels Friodur, Inox steel (Stainless) very good razors, that one does have a bit of Spine wear from what I can see in the pic, but it does look nice and even,,
I am just re-reading yer post, are you saying that they won't let you see the razor ??? I this a new un-opened Dovo???
There might be a Blue Metal box inside the outerbox that actually holds the razor, Unless it is a new sealed razor from a known Vendor I would be very reluctant to buy a razor with out seeing the condition..

It's strange that the vendor won't open the blue Dovo box pictured. It's clearly not mint or even sealed (from the gap at the front of the box). The size of the box & color made me think of Dovo shears at first. Odd.

oh no no. there's a sealed black case inside the box and those are in good condition. The blue case is actually a big box of 10 and it's sitting on the shelf for a long time till now.

anyway, he's selling at 51USD, is it a good deal?

Wait, it's not DOVO unlike what the blue box said it is?

The razor in that pic is a Well Used Vintage Henckels Friodur...
Considered by many to be one of the best Stainless razors made (myself I think the Hess #44 beats it) but no that is NOT a Dovo razor in the pic

As to the price, $51 is a great deal for a Dovo or a Henckels in New (not even bad for a gently used) condition but you are the one rolling the dice :D
