Got these two in yesterday and was in the mood to work on them and got them finished today, which was really fast considering the time it takes. Two others came in today also, one is a Gold tone Tech and the other is a Gillette "new" gold tone also.
I've used one of the injectors for the past week and got real nice shaves. I can see I'm going to have to collect other injectors.
Got a beautiful GEM Junior for my son off the auction place. With instructions! It had this in it!! And picked up some Masters Bay Rum at Sallys
Yeah, I almost don't wanna give it up. But, it will be my sons first GEM, so I think I'm gonna have to.
Local finds. I'm hoping to restore this Wade and Butcher for my son. The scales are rough, look like maybe horn, but the blade looks sound to me. Looks to be pre 1890's. Will have to do more research to narrow it down. Finished off his gift set with a sweet old Schick Injector. Paid $15 for both.
I didn't buy it lol but its basically my new shiny thing at work. 1 week in and I'm starting to hate it haha.
My totally awesome sisster who is out of the country for school that I miss tons sent me this for my birthday. The razor is one that I just resored. It is a Gillette Open comb razor with the thin bar handle. Sweet little razor. I wouldn't purchase any AoS products for myself, but I sure don't mind them as a gift.
That thing looks brand new. You should have seen the fuel trucks I was working out of. The worst part was having to sit in these trucks in between pump stages for 17hrs straight, some of which had no A/C in 100 degree humid Louisiana weather and no heaters in the winter. So glad I'm in a different field now. I do miss the paychecks though.
It is brand new that pic was taken as I was picking it up lol. All of our water trucks are brand new as well I'm in the process of cycling them out. The only problem is I'm the only one qualified to run that truck right now lol
Here are some photos of brushes I got in a few weeks back and finished this week. There is a thread of the process with pics in the DIY Section.
Just some Proraso after shave. I have enough left in my current bottle for tomorrow, so I picked up another....and I bought the pasta next to it also. (Same trip)
My Griffin Carbo-Magnetic came today from the bay. Its in much better shape than the pictures showed. Now I just need to put it in the pile of to be restored. The etching looks great and you can still make out "trademark" underneath the etching.
Restore? I thought those things never need to be honed or ground. Hahaha just kidding. Just had to it up to see what it was. Found a Great advertisement. Is there any truth behind it?
I don't think so. But it does look pretty cool etched into the side of the blade. Maybe a slight truth as there is hardly any hone wear and is in pretty good shape. Of course you never know how it was cared for before I got it.
Excited about this one guys. As some of you guys may know, I love brushes, seeing all the awesome restores and stuff really gets me excited. I decided to splurge a little and pick out custom brush from Elite Razor. Robert Quinn really makes some beautiful stuff. Here's his site if you want to check it out. The handle I purchased is part wood (Buckeye) part neo-resinate (dark blue with light blue swirling). Looks absolutely fantastic. Set with a 22mm Silver Tip at about a 48mm loft. So happy with this brush. Here's a bunch of pictures so you can see all the way around.
