Found Aqua Velva Ice Sport last night at a local grocery store, picked up a bottle for about $4.00 and used it last night. Smells great.
A sweet haul today. I got a box of 100 Gem SE blades from Connaught Shaving, and today was the start of a big antique show. I got a Red Tip (A3), 2 Patent Pending Rockets, and a flair tip rocket! Pretty sweet haul! And I got the blades for good measure!
Got the mild head for my Titan razor. The other razor is a rhodium plated (NDC, notched) Super Speed from the late forties, early fifties. Cheers, Lyndon
Here are the two Frank brushes I just got. The one one the left is a "faux" ivory brush which has some faint brown lines mixed into the white handle material to make it look more authentic. The brush on the right is a fan shaped silvertip. Neither brush was very expensive. Lyndon
My beautiful new WD Silver Tip from my good buddy JRod22, thanks Brother, and a Hydro-Magic! Tomorrows shave is gonna be saaweeet!
Well not shaving related, but a huge purchase for the business today. Well huge to me. Pick it up in the morning.
Not really shaving related either but I bought a Leatherman MUT and a Spyderco Native Knife (Plain edge) this afternoon. I was expecting the wife to punch me in the head with that bill but she ended up saying "At least it's work stuff and not more razors!"
Bought a vintage beauty dish at the antique store today and milled my Tabac sample down into it. Lid says John Robert Powers.
Your Papa Arko line up makes my inner Detective Monk sing. La la la la I don't even know what that does, but I want one
Very cool home for ol' Tabacky . It's a John Roberts Powers Modeling School face powder jar (late 1950s-1960s) John Robert Powers was an actor & entrepreneur who founded a modeling agency that was very prestigious in the early-mid 20th century. (The name is now associated with a franchise that's nothing like its distinguished forerunner). JRP represented many models who went on to become Hollywood starlets. Former First Lady Betty Ford was a "Powers Girl" before her marriage... A fun bit of history surrounds your Tabac!
Here are a couple of photos of the restores I finished last week. Really happy with the way they turned out. I love trolling through this thread and the Sotd threads....it really fires up my RAD.
