I'll get the new week kicked off for us. Very simple and straight to the point.

    Menthol Monday:

Gatsby Ice Cooling Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    #6 Horsehair
    Super Speed/new 7 AM
Tryphon Mentolo Shaving Stick :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    444 AS Balsam :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Barbon AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    YSL Pour Homme EDT

What a delightful and bone-chilling set-up for a Menthol Monday Shave this is - the Gatsby facial wash is not only freezing-cold, it also smells nice and leaves my face very clean and well-cared for. This Mentolo shaving stick is no longer available because of the closure of the company which produced it - the lather it gives is off the charts, and it has a very nice, minty scent with a STRONG cooling sensation. I don't think that the 444 balsam and Barbon aftershave need any more mentioning. They're brrrrrrr cold and beautiful! ;) :D

Sorry, no photos this time. :)

    Good morning.

Kicked off the week with a 05:00am shave as I had to get in to work rather early today and it was quite a nice one, I must admit. As I had just about finished off my Calani Purissima shave soap puck, I unscrewed the lid of a fresh jar of Martin de Candre’s unscented shave soap, enjoyed the very pleasing smell of good quality soap.
    My set-up was as follows:

    MdC unscented shave soap (obviously)
Mühle Basic #02 shave brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Cobra Classic SE razor
    Feather Professional blade
    Musgo Real Classic after shave

I forgot how good these soaps are. The lather was of outstanding quality and I can’t wait to have my Bismarck glide through this, which should make for a very enjoyable shave experience.

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead with plenty of happy shaving!

    Late Sunday Shave 3/24/2013

I've taken to listing to audio books while I shave, I think I've found my zen place.

    Hot towel
    WD Silver Tip
    TOBS Jermyn St.
    GEM 1912
    Ted Pella (2) :)
WTG, XTG, RXTG, ATG jawline j hook
    Cold Rinse
    WH
    Nivia PS Balm
    Clubman VI Bay Rum

Gave the Jermyn St another try and it gave me an excellent, 4 pass + irritation free shave. The scent is still not my favorite, but I'm getting used to it. I have one more good shave left in the sample and while I probably wont buy this scent, I will be adding a TOBS cream to my den.

It was great to use the Taylor Shaving Shop product line again today. The TOBS creams are absolutely top notch! If you haven't tried one yet, you are missing out on one of wet shaving's great pleasures. The Boots blade is a bit stiff so I thought it might be a good match for the Titan H1. I was right. While the Titan is technically a razor, I like to refer to it as a "precision shaving instrument". It is such a pleasure to use. The TOBS aftershave gel is also very good however, it is a bit pricey. Totally awesome super BBS "barber shop" shave today.

Very good shave this morning. The Spear holds it's edge very well. For the last 2 or 3 weeks I've been using Tabac SC a lot and get consistently great shaves with it.

Had a great shave this morning...

    Proraso Preshave
    TSD Iced Barbershop cream
    Parker Silver tip
    1958 Gillette TV Special
    Feather Blade
    Unscented Witch Hazel
    Proraso Green AS

This was my first shave with the Gillette and I gotta say, the SS should stand for "Super Smooth" because it gives such a comfortable and smooth shave! I'm definitely very happy with my newest acquisition.

    SOTD Monday 3/25:

    Hot shower
    Cremo Shave Cream as pre-shave
    AOS pure badger
    Merkur 34c HD
    Super-max platinum
    TOBS sandalwood SC
    4 passes
    Thayer's WH Rose
    PdP ASB
    LaCoste Essential EDT

    BBS once again.

Using cremo as pre shave cream actually worked pretty well. I put in on in the shower instead of conditioner and then wet it before lathering. Since it is activated by water it works pretty well. Splash of water between passes and it slicks back up, then lather on top.

    Monday morning.

    Axe Chilled face wash
    Prosaso Pre-Shave Cream
    Van Der Hagen SS
    Van Der Hagen Boar Brush
Personna blade (USA made, found at dollar store)
    Gillette Gold Tech razor
    Witch Hazel
    “Family Dollar” Old Spice AF
    Nivea post-shave balm

    For a BBS!

This morning I used a Personna for the first time, the version made in the USA, found at drugstores or dollar stores. I researched the blade, and it is not a Personna Lab or Med blade. But I’ve heard good reviews on the drugstore version so I was eager to give it a try. Mostly because it’s cheap and I have a dollar store that carries them.

I did a traditional three pass shave with touch-ups. The blade was smooth, sharp, and comfortable—I was glad—but got overzealous during the touch-up and got a weeper and light irritation on my jaw line near my chin. I used Blade Buffing technique and again, it did wonders for my neck and chin. In comparison with the Gillette Silver Blue it took longer to get the stubble cut and I buffed too many times. I got a BBS but with a price that comes with overdoing it.

However, hours later, my face feels great, comfortable with the scent of Family Dollar aftershave, which I LOVE. I smell like my grandpa who lived in the town of Isle, Minnesota. The witch hazel and Nivea balm soothed my skin so I can enjoy the BBS shave. Tomorrow I’m going to try the Bluebird blade I think, we’ll see.

Hmm... good question. I am not really good at describing scents. It smells very tradition and has an overall mellow tone. It's very traditional but not quite the same as the scent of Pinaud Clubman. Slightly sweet maybe with a tiny hint of lemon. I really love it.

    Cheers, Lyndon
