It was what got me started on the whole wet shave addiction. Picked it up at a gift shop for $3.50 with an Omega brush. I had been using the bath soap for years. The only thing on the cons list is it doesn't stay "white lathery" but it's still slick and shaveable if you do lose the lathery look. On the pro side, it's cheap, it smells great, it's cheap, it performs pretty good and it's cheap. And I owe it big time so I'm mentioning it here.
It's amazing how something so simple can get people addicted to wet shaving. I'm glad you posted this. I'm going give it a try and maybe add a little cream to help the lather.
the few others that I've talked to/posted with that have used it all say the same thing. Lather disappears but works good to great.
I tried it for a while because I wanted an evergreen-scented shaving soap, but I really didn't care for it. It really didn't have much of the scent I was looking for and its lathering ability left something to be desired, IMO.
no, I never meant it was good by wet shave standards. just that coming from the canned stuff it was great. it brought me over from the dark side so i'm eternally grateful.
If you like the scent but can't get a decent lather, try what I do, add a couple squirts or a dollap of KMF unscented cream. Helps build the lather but keeps the original scent of the soap.
KMF is short for Kiss My Face, the brand name. They make a great shaving cream - unscented, lavender, cool mint, patchouli. I get mine at my local ShopRite grocery store. For some reason they don't keep it with the men's shaving. It's on the other side of the isle with the "natural" shaving / shower/ bath items.
Thanks again.I don't use the Lightfoots anymore because, well, I know and have better but I do love the scent and if that'll improve the lathering, I'm back in the evergreens.
Other soaps have had negative things written about them, as well. When I tried a couple, I found that a lot of the commentary was nonsense even taking "your mileage may vary" into account.
it's great when you're comin at it from the canned goo side of the force. not so much if you've been yoda'ed into the light.
Hey Mouser, If you like the smell of Pine you should try Mike's Pine and Cedarwood soap. Fantastic smell and performance. You can buy a sample from Mike for $1.00. Oh and you may want to add some other soap samples it addictive stuff. http://www.mikesnaturalsoaps.com/Mikes_Natural_Soaps/Welcome.html
I very much wanted to love the Lightfoot's Pine.... What a sad disappointment! There are a couple of artisan creams/croaps out there that provide awesome pine scented returns: TSD Blue Juiper QCS Celstial Woods
Somewhere, way deep in the archives, I have your address... can't find it at the moment. PM me and I will fire you off some Blue Juniper.
