Lately I've been putting in 80+ he's a week at work. Spring in pa anymore you wake up to an alarm saying drill baby drill lol. I absolutely love my job but am so drained at the end of the day. Anyone else ever work to the point of exhaustion at a job they love?

Hopefully you're making some good overtime :). I'm in the military and sleep deprivation is a way of life so I know what you're saying.

I used to be that way. I was on call 24/7. Some days, I would come home and not remember how I got in to my bed. I also, found I would lose some weight on those weeks.:eatdrink020:

No. Never had a job that I loved. You're lucky you do, although even a pron star gets tired of work sometimes I bet. Hang in there big guy!

Just be thankful you love what you do.
I can say I like what I do, but I don't love it. Maybe someday.

And remember this, no one on their death bed was ever heard to say, "I wish I had spent more time at the office." Make sure you're taking some time for yourself and family.

I love my job but it can get exhausting, sometimes by the time I get home I have time to get a shower, something to eat, browse the net and go to sleep :p

I can't complain about the hours at my job. The actual minutes are another story sometimes.

youngunn Where's my TSD aftershave balm???

80+ hours at work is too much IMHO. Work is ok, I just like my job, don't love it. Really hard on my knees and neck and hands, I have Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) which is a lot like RA.

whether it's work or play, when you see or hear of others doing it you start to feel guilty that you're not. even though there's nothing you can do about it.

80+ hours per week is standard in the industry in which I work, at least at most places. People - and companies - are either going fast forward or falling off the edge of the cliff. There is very little middle ground. How bearable it is depends on the company. If the company has high morale, treats the employees well and has a motivated workforce, 80 hours per week is nothing. If the morale is low and the company treats its workforce like dirt or is otherwise badly managed, then even 40 hours per week is miserable.

The very best jobs I have ever worked at were easily 80 hours per week. I would feel drained at the end of the day sometimes, but wake up enthusiastic and motivated the next morning. Feeling drained was nothing a night's sleep couldn't cure.

I have a neighbour who is "Hippy lazy" (do Americans use that term?) he can't sleep in the same room as a pair of workboots.

Hope it calms down for you! I work from home and have a saying up on my wall. It reads "Never Get Too Busy Making A Living That You Forget to make a Life"

I have never heard of the term "hippy lazy", but back when hippies were around we just figured that they were lazy and needed a bath.

I know the feeling, when I was Frac'n I was getting 100+ hrs a week. It was rough. Right now I get about 55-60 hrs a week and then come home every day and work on my razors and what not. I don't really consider my hobby work though, because I enjoy it. At least your working though, right?

And I whine if I get more than 43 hours a week ;-)

As I've always said: I work for a living, not the other way around.

Very seldom I get 50 hours for one week only and I'm absolutely without "life" that week. Or so I feel - not a single chore at home gets done.

My budget is set for 37 hours a week. Any more hours is just icing on the cake, no necessity. I don't want a fancy house and sportscar if it drives me into so many hours. Where's the time to enjoy the fancy house and car then? I don't think I get it and it's not because I' lazy...

Several years ago I read a book titled "Your Money or Your Life", I'd recommend it to anyone. It's outdated (last printed in 1993 I think) but it makes you think about why you work.
