Wednesday Well, I'll be damned - the Astra SP that tore up my face the first time I tried my R89 got a second chance today - and it marvelled!! Prep: Matas Mens Sensitive Face Wash followed by a steaming hot wet cloth. Lather: Haslinger Ewe Milk soap. Brush: Semogue 1520. Razor: Mūhle R89. 3 passes (traditional WTG, XTG, ATG) with touchups on my, very difficult, chin. Cold rinse followed by National Shaving Alum block. Rinse off after few mins. Finished off with Speick Aftershave Lotion. No nicks this time. I got 8 last time I used the R89/AstraSP combo. Technique/pressure must have been to blame.
SOTD Wednesday 4-17-2013 FaTip Piccolo w/Astra SP Proraso PSC Musgo Real SC GT G4 Scuttle Vintage Austrian Barbershop Boar Thayer's Witch Hazel Nivea Replenishing ASB Mennen Original Skin Bracer The FaTip Piccolo is a cute little thing. It looks so small and innocent but, this little sucker will eat your lunch! It has to be one of the most aggressive razors in my cabinet. (Excluding the R41 of course!) The FaTip Grande is slightly aggressive but nowhere near this little cuss. I always enjoy the Grande but I have to keep a close watch on the little Piccolo. lol
Me too, my friend. If you ever stumble upon one and it's is in reasonable condition, don't hesitate: buy! And send to me!
Hump day! That equals eight DE shaves. See where we end up... Nice 'n' close shave.
Wednesday morning. A beautiful cool morning with clouds in the sky. Axe Chilled facial wash/V05 conditioner Shave Secret Barbasol Soothing Aloe Astra Superior Platinum (1) Edwin Jagger DE89L razor Witch Hazel Captain’s Choice Bay Rum aftershave For a content BBS! I’ve been meaning to trying shimming the blade, but I need to get a new pair of scissors first! In the meantime, another perfectly good shave, smooth, and my face feels refreshed and comfortable. With Barbasol I’m finding I’m using my brush less and less, don’t think I need to use my brush anymore with Barbasol. When I get my new C.O. Bigelow cream I’ll be using the brush again. I just found a nice ceramic bowl at a thrift store that should do nicely for mixing lather. My Schick blades (from Amazon) should be here on Thursday, perhaps even today, and then I try my Schick E2 razor for the first time! I’m really looking forward to that. Just realized I have to clean that razor first. Aces!

SOTD Wednesday Yesterday's shave was so close I'm not gonna shave until tomorrow Prep: Hot bath, Cetaphil facial wash Razor: none Blade: none Brush: none Shave: none Post: Clubman AS Pomade: Murray's Superior, Royal Crown to finish off Cologne: Tom Ford Noir Getting the hang of this old school pomade stuff. Very awesome hair product and is only 2-3 bucks a tin. Went barbershop shopping today, introduced myself to a few barbers. Think I'm gonna try the one that's only a few minutes from my house, very nice, kinda cluttered and old inside but they seem to know why they're doing.
Happy Hump Day!! Hot Shower Green Marvy Mug Omega Pro Boar TOBS Grapefruit SC Lord L6 Polsilver (2) Cool Water Rinse BB&W "Be Enchanted" Body Lotion This was my first time using the Grapefruit flavor of TOBS and I LOVE the scent, made the bathroom smell very nice and performed much like my other flavors of TOBS. Everything else is old school for me, performed as it always does. In other news..... I am one month out of my neck surgery and WOW, do I feel much better. I can't say I am enjoying the actual recovery, that darn collar sucked for the first two weeks! But the good news is, my arms are working properly now!! I have two discs replaced with cadaver bone and a plate with three screws in three different discs. The entire healing process is about a year and I'll start fusing in the next couple months. In the meantime, I'm learning my limitations! It's good to be back, I sure have missed you guys! Have a great rest of your day!!
17.4.2013 Prep: shower, RazoRock glycerine pre-shave soap Razor: Vintage Bakelite Slant Blade: Personna Med Prep (1) Brush: Frank Shaving Faux Agate Scuttle: "Estremoz" V2 Green Soap/Cream: RazoRock S. Maria Post: alum, T.N. Dickinson's Witch hazel Aftershave: Honeybee Gardens Key Lime Perhaps today's gear selection wasn't the best. As some of you might know my bakelite slant broke a while back. While I managed to glue it back together it feels slightly different as it did before. I'm still unlucky with Med Prep blades from the box of 100 I have. I got a bad batch, that's for sure. One side feels smooth and mows down whiskers like there's no tomorrow while the other side of the blade tugs, pulls and skips along the face. Not the best feeling in the world when a blade you love proves to be guilty of poor quality control from the company that makes it. I'm also still struggling with making proper lather with S. Maria. I either end up with too much water or too much product (lather too thick).

My black badger (TGN) also needed serious defunkage. It may have to do with location on the pelt (rear & sometimes feet). Love the scrubby goodness post-exorcism though!
Gotta use it or lose it! Prolly the last run through the older gear before the den clearing sale. I will keep Chubbz I and II for nostalgia, but mainly use the 404 and the R-41 and Arko as the daily drivers.
