I tried feather blade in black handle superspeed cause its mild and i tougth that will be winning combination but it's not. I got bbs but... . Blood? Yea. I need blood transfusion. Fortunately I didn't cut myself but I get blood spots over all my face. I can't control aggressiveness of that blade even wtg.
Do you have a blade sampler? If not you might consider getting a large one..The more blades you can try the better as different blades work differently with different faces...Here two I use and like alot: Astra SP: Very inexpensive, but good at least on my face. PolSilver Super Iridium: For me an excellent blade, but also to the expensive side(think Feather price wise). Hope this helps some....
The blade isn't aggressive, it's sharp, just as a razor blade is designed to be. If you're shaving every day, try skipping a few days between shaves and let your skin heal. My nephew had the same issue with every combination he tried until he used a Tech. Great razor for tender faces and for people with limited experience. Once you get use to the process you'll be using a R41 wth a chipped Shark blade without so much as a tug. Also, how many passes are you making? Beard type, skin type, etc... Sounds like you're simply trying to hard to get a BBS shave (too many passes).
I tried blue gillette, wilkinson, bic, bolzano, astra sp, elios, lord, ejtek 7 o' clock platinum made in India more than 25 years old. Ejtek is best but i have only 4 blades now. Astra is second.
I disagree. I get blood spots even wtg. I used Astra sp and bolzano in shavette and didn't get spots even atg. I make 2 and a half passes (3 passes on sensitive sensitive part.)
Feathers are super sharp but not so smooth. My favorite super sharp blade is Personna Lab. But right now supermax is my favorite brand. The platinum and titanium blades are MONEY.
I agree, I use a Feather now in a Gillette Tech and it goes very smoothly, no nicks. It's a winning combination for me.
Blades are such a "YMMV" kind of thing!! I agree that time and technique can change how a particular blade works for you. I agree thats it possible to try too hard for a BBS, I feel(in my experience) it's better to just let it come to you and in time it will. Different blades simply work differently on different faces. All blades are "razor" sharp and will shave.... Feathers are "VERY" sharp. Feathers are "VERY" harsh (on my face). Derby's just suck PolSilver Super Iridiums are "VERY" sharp and "VERY" smooth and gentle on my face. I disagree with the number of passes(within reason) you make causing the problem. One pass with a Feather on my face is "TO" much, but I've made as many as 9 passes(when I was chasing the baby) with other blades(red pk Personna's,Wilkinson Sword) with no major problem. THIS PLACE and HOBBY IS FUN!!!!
Feathers do well for me in the EJ and 37c, but not in my TTO's for some reason. I get the same result-small bleeders. My TTO's do fine with Voskhods, Rapiras, Ladas, Astras, Supermax's, Iridiums, 7-Oclocks, Personnas, and many others, but not Feathers.
Loaded a Polsilver SI in my Fat Boy, settings 6;4;4 for a very smooth shave. I'm going to see how long the Polsilver will last to offset the higher price. Also going to try increasing the aggressiveness of the razor as the blade dulls to see if this will give acceptable shaves for longer.
Let us know how that works out for you. I would have thought the opposite (but haven't tried it). I get 3 three pass shaves out of a blade and change regardless.
Hi. The idea is not original to me. I read it somewhere and thought it sounded reasonable on the basis of: Aggressive razor + mild blade = good shave Mild razor + aggressive blade = good shave I'll see how it works out and report back.
So long Feather, I won't miss you Just ended my second shave with first and last Feather blade. I prepaired myself now, rested skin+face lathered Tabac. I get 3 passes (2xwtg+atg) and get really pleasant close shave(I didn't push to bbs and I get few blood spots but nothing to declare), but not much or less better with Bolzano or Astra SP.
