I've been wanting to buy one of these rare Gillette engraved sets for quite a while since I started collecting and I recently had the good fortune to be able to buy a nice New Improved Cavalier set from the bay. It's a complete set with correct case, blade containers and soap / brush canisters but unfortunately without the brush. The razor does not have a serial number so that would make this a 1928 set according to Achim's site. Here are the pictures: Complete set - the case interior is in pretty bad shape and the portion of the top cover with the button to snap it shut has cracked and on the verge of separating. But fortunately it is the correct case and the razor, blade containers and the canisters are in pretty good shape: The razor, blade containers & the canisters, all in excellent condition. A quick hot water & baking soda bath followed by cleaning with toothbrush & toothpaste brought it back to a very good shine: Underside of the razor head showing the engraving: This is one of the most beautiful razor sets I have in my collection and the workmanship on this set is exquisite! Quite happy with this acquisition and hopefully I will get lucky with a New Improved Deluxe or a New President set
Razor porn. Love it, you have quite a beautiful set. I restore vintage razors and I'm drooling a little.
Thanks all for your messages! This set sure is pretty and I've kept it on my dressing table so that I can see it everyday
Congrats ! It's a great set, no so many sets are showing engraved heads ....I bought one a long time ago, don't remember if it is in my gallery or not, these sets are now scarce and quiet expensive especially when the case is in perfect condition, with period add and blades it can be priced over $500 in Italy.... I hope you will try it, not only put in your display ...
