Slept in this morning....only 45 min behind. I'm not too worried though, Monday is the busiest day for me, as I actually have stuff to do dor half the day, unlike Tues-Fri. But still....it's Monday.... :S
Xerox is not a copying machine company. Xerox is a copying machine repair company that sells copiers. Our high school copier has been down for over a week. During testing. At the end of the school year. I've got *everyone* in district breathing down my neck to get it fixed. Everyone wants a new copier, but you have to go through the proper procedures/channels before you can make that happen. Have I mentioned that I hate copiers?
I hear ya...I finally got that C550 working somewhat properly. It just doesn't like a 64 bit server for some reason, even with both 64 and 32 bit drivers installed. And our Xerox guy just being a lazy *$^, kept giving me the number to call Xerox support....umm, isn't that what you're supposed to do after we'd already called them...thrice...and already tried every driver/printproc/port config/various other configs we could find? This is the same guy that setup the new copiers at the other school I was at, after spending 3 hours trying to get scan to home directories working, never got it before he had to leave, then I spent 30 minutes on it, called him and told him he didn't have to come back the next day
Stopped at a red light on my way to work this morning. The light changed and the car in front of me didn't go, but the one behind me did and rear ended me. I get out and say lets pull off and exchange information. She takes off doing 90 mph on a 35 mph road. I chase her down and get the information. Had to leave to come open up the building at work, then go file a police report. Today is fantastic...
I just walked out of the dermatologist's office after being kept waiting over an hour past my appointment. Hey, anyone can run behind, but how hard would it be for reception to either call up, or inform you when you check in, that the doc is running significantly behind today and would you like to reschedule? Believe it or not, I have other things to do during my day than wait around until someone can bother to see me.
I know the feeling. A little common courtesy goes a long way... Sunday, I was giving away some of my koi to someone as I am closing the pond. They were supposed to show up at 10 am with 3 people to help and got there at 12:30 with 1 person... What should have taken 20 minutes, took until 3 pm when I got pissed off and asked if they were planning on actually netting a fish before I told them to leave.
In Canada they seem to give you the waiting time for appointments no mater how long it's gonna be..but maybe it's part of that Canuck decorum I don't know...
It is a beautiful day in Chicago, and I am getting together with Danny (DSLazar9), for dinner and to exchange shaving goods. In other words, "it couldn't be better!"
So saith also the Limecat. But, I imagine in Canada, they at least manage a "sore-y, eh" at some point. Which, for some reason you also use quite frequently in mosh pits too. huh.
Copier is still down. The poor tech is still kind of new to the job and can't get anyone else (with more experience) to come take a look at it with him. His field-engineers are apparently useless. There's maybe 2 parts on the machine that haven't been replaced so far. You would think at some point the bosses would just say, "You know what... we're going to lose this contract--take them a new machine." To top it off, I've got a lab of computers that are randomly dropping a letter from a page upon printing from Word. So, for instance you've got a page with no "R"s. Looked it up and found that the solution is to install right-to-left language options on the computer-- a feat that requires both the original windows disc and the service pack 3 disc. I've been trying to find a way to push the setting change, but apparently I'm going to have to manually touch each machine in the lab and swap discs around. I woke up this morning with an impending sense of doom and dread. While my world hasn't completely fallen apart, I've been pretty peeved all day. On an up-note, though last night we went into town to get some stuff to prepare for adding a new cat to the household (it's a stray that won't stop trying to get in the house, we don't have the heart to turn her away), and we stumbled upon a clearance table at Walmart's electronics register. Found a TomTom Go (voice command, bluetooth phone interface, live services, free maps for life) on clearance for $45. Couldn't walk away from that!
In 20 minutes I am having the meeting that decides my employment status with the company. I've been prepared for it for about 6 months now...but it still sucks that it is happening. Hopefully it is a good outcome though.
