Sunday I've been wanting to try my travel kit for a while - today was the day. Imagine a campsite with no hot water or other modern facilities. Prep: Soaked cold cloth on the face for a minute or so. Soundtrack: Birds chirping outside. Mirror: ImageReflector travel mirror. Lather: Proraso Cutting Edge brushless gel. Weapon: Gillette Guard. Post: Cold water rinse followed by Proraso Cutting Edge after shave balm. Done! I wouldn't call it a DFS, but it's indeed passable for a low-tech travel. Not as close as I usually go for but pretty darn good! On par with, if not better, than my electric. This is indeed a thought example - I've never been on a campsite without hot water and modern shower facilities. So how was the shave? Well... it annoyed the crap out of me that I couldn't see where I had already shaved (gel is transparent) and the Guard didn't glide near as easy as I am accustomed to with my DE's. The razor is also near featherweight with a pivot head so that required some alternative technique as well. The gel provided good protection and the balm felt nice with a much lovely scent, very fresh and nice! All in all a pretty decent shave with no nicks, no irritation and a nice feeling face afterwards. This travel kit is low-cost, low weight and carry-on safe when flying. With my amount of traveling this Guard system with 10 heads in the package will last me 5-10 years for a bargain. Would I bring my DE, brush etc if a hotel is a destination? I don't think so actually..
6/8 Nev-A-hone Harris Winsor SS 22mm Omega boar Same razor as yesterday just wearing a different dress. The scales are more of a traditional design today. Comments and critique on the handle are welcome. The shave was excellent, this razor takes a wonderful edge. Have a good one.
Sunday: #6 Horsehair Dovo Bismarck 5/8 Arko Shaving Stick Lubriderm unscented moisturizer Booster Mosswood AS All I can say is what a shave, what a shave, what a shave - every one I've had this week was great, but this one was even better than a professional barber could have given me. This Dovo straight knocked off my tough stubble like nothing. It was a pleasure to lather up with my Arko stick and to enjoy that nice soapy scent. The Booster Mosswood aftershave is an absolute keeper for me.

Very nice 3-pass shave. Got a heavy load on the Omega 49 and the Proraso Red made a fantastic lather in the suribachi. The 7 a.m. blade was a new blade for me and it did a fine job.

Sunday morning. Yes, that is the good china. Please don't tell. Capping off bowl week with lavender luxury. Bowl: Soup bowl from The Good China (I had to stand on a chair to get it) Razor: Merkur slant Blade: Trig day two Brush: D&G travel Pre shave: Proraso white Lather: Castle Forbes Lavender Balm: Castle Forbes Lavender Coffee with Bailey's I'm liking the Trig. The first half of yesterday's shave was kind of draggy, but then it got better all on its own. The result was very close. Today the blade felt smooth and sharp, with great results. My two year old, littlebear, used these today (she had to stand on a chair too): No nicks for either of us.
