I have only tried Arko Maximum Comfort and I just could not get past the scent. It's like a bad men's deodorant. The other Arko scents may be OK, but I'm afraid that the Maximum Comfort ruined it for me.
Here is a 25% discount code on Real Shave Company products, if you decide to order. http://www.retailmenot.com/view/realshavingshop.com
Enabler! Sigh, that 25% off coupon makes an order of a single tube about $8 after shipping, but I can still get it cheaper from Connaught Shaving (aprox. $4.50 after shipping). Still, it is enough to push me into finally ordering some. http://www.connaughtshaving.com/realsc.html
I was thinking about buying some inexpensive creams from shaveabuck, including Domino, Figaro, and Barbon. I'm glad to see a couple of them pop up on a favorites list.
Barbon is pretty good stuff. Pair it with the Barbon AS and you have a winning combo there. I don't have experience with Domino or Figaro, but I can surely speak for Barbon.
Figaro is constantly underrated. It is the equal of any English cream. I love the Fougere scent of it (however, the aftershave is menthol based). If you don't know what Fougere smells like, English Fern is "close" or at least in the same family. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fougère Barbon is earthier smelling than Figaro. The Real Shaving Co. 2x concentrated shave cream is in that same family of scents. If you don't care for earthy, mossy or fern scented shave creams, all of these should be avoided.
I'd have to say Speick. If that's still too pricey I'll throw my vote in for Palmolive Classic. Smells good and performs like creams that are 3 times it's price. I have no experience with the menthol version but it's on my short list and if it's anything like the classic, it'll be a winner.
Godrej lime Palmolive classic SuperMax ultimate Old Spice VI John. All these are inexpensive and I sometimes pair it with a Godrej shaving round to get an amazing lather.
Palmolive classic/sensitive/mentholated (Int.) Ingram (Britain) Tamara (Egypt) Proraso (Italy) Speick (Germany)
One of those "love it or hate it" products, this stuff doesnt make big foamy lather, but besides the 'manly' scent, it provides very good face lubrication & leaves my skin feeling moisturized & soft for the day.
