That is what I thought, too. Actually, the price of rhodium has declined by nearly $300 per ounce. From this link: IMHO rhodium replated razors are one of the few refinished vintage goods that increase in value. Refinishing most other collectibles generally decreases their value, often by a great deal. That razor is stunning! Did the replating shop also repaint the numbers and index marker?
I had my FB rodium plated about a year ago from Reliable Electroplating. If I recall it was around 55. I think they did a great job.
Wow that rhodium coating is beautiful. I have a Aristocrat in the mail I would love to have this done to.
Looks fantastic. I'll be having my fb done very soon the same way, but as I'm living in the UK I'll go for restoredrazors. The original finish has a black finished ring underneath the numbered dial. I see yours does not have that anymore, was that mentioned in advance? You don't mind I guess. It's only a detail but I actually like that.
That's really pretty. I have a Fatboy that is in good enough original shape that I don't need to replate it, but yours after the replate is really stunning. Congratulations.
Wow!!! Looks so amazing.I like my vintage Fatboy a lot but when i saw your pictures...oh man...brilliant!!! The costs are too expensive to send it from Germany in the USA and back...that´s the only thing i will not do it.
If you really wanted to, there's at least one place doing it in the UK. http://www.restoredrazors.com/ there's probably a place in Germany as well if you look around a bit.
