Awesome being reunited with Chubbz, but he seems to be suffering from male pattern baldness. He will undergo surgery this weekend with a new knot if I have the time. Overall, an awesome shave. The R41-13 wants a slightly sharper blade than the Voskhod, but I am getting used to it and getting some good shaves from the combo.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, what a pleasure - a beautiful and super-smooth shave which froze my face off. That Palmolive Cool cream is such a delight to lather up with, and its menthol power is awesome. After the Diana Sport balsam/Rubby Dubby Doo combination, even if it's 100 degrees outside you'll still feel cool! ;) :D

Have a nice weekend, folks! :)

4 weeks, 3 shaving sticks - all in a quest to improve my face lathering technique. I mostly bowl lather and I was determined to get used to face lathering. All I can say is: mission accomplished! I struggled a bit on my first week, but by the time I started week 2 I got the hang of it.
If you didn't follow my posts I used Speick on the first week, then Wilkinson Sword stick on the second and Palmolive on the third week. On the fourth week I rotated the soaps each shave. This allowed me to evaluate if there was any soap that didn't perform well. I think it would be really unfair if I judged the Speick stick based on the week I was learning and adjusting my technique.
All I can say all 3 soaps are fantastic and an absolute joy to use. The all provide loads of great lather that is an absolute treat to shave with.
I used Arko today because while it's sold as a stick I have it pressed down into a wooden bowl so that doesn't really count. But I did face lather it.

Got the KMF in yesterday. Bought to introduce SWMBO to shaving with real cream and brush, then DE comes next. Of course, I had to test it out first! Great stuff...Excellent latherability, slickness and smells nice (a little sweet). Getting real close on the adjustable. I will try on (7) tomorrow, but I am guessing that I will end up there (especially looking at the visible blade gap).

    Have a great day all!

The OT/Weber Wave combo is a fantastic performer and always serves me well. Great shave this morning.

Razor: 40’s Gillette Fat Handle Tech
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Brush: Simpson Berkeley Best Badger
    Cream: TOBS Eton College
    AS: Old Spice

Today’s shave was full of classic English and American products. The only complaint about today’s shave is that I think I pushed the Personna blade to it’s limits. I can’t remember if this was the 3rd or 4th time I’ve used this blade, but it was definitely one time to many. It was very tuggy from beginning to end.

Aside from the blade, everything else performed just as you’d expect....perfect! The TOBS was ultra thick and luxurious, the Simpson was soft on the face but with just the right amount of back bone, and the Old Spice just brought it all together with it’s classic American scent.

Are you using a Scentsy jar to keep your lather warm? Very ingenious!

Friday - A Desert Island Failure

After 4 shaves with the same setup, I wasn't happy with the lather of the MWF and was getting some neck irritation (I know I'm a Texas Redneck, but this was on the front of my neck). I thought it might be the brush, which I restored with a TGN nylon knot set to provide a short loft. I switched to my TGN Silvertip and got a great face lather and smooth shave with the razor set at 6 (same as yesterday). I think I may need to re-knot the Ever-Ready 79, I love the handle but don't care for the knot performance.
