Menthol Monday: Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new Rapira QCS Vostok SC Lubriderm unscented moisturizer Diana Sport Menthol Balsam Osage Rub AS Givenchy Pour Homme EDT If this set-up doesn't freeze a man's face off then nothing will - every item is about equally as cold. The Gatsby wash puts the first layer of icicles in your face, the Vostok cream reinforces it with an extremely POWERFUL coating of frostiness, then we have the ultra-potent Diana Sport balsam which not only is super-icy, it's also very moisturizing, and last but not least we have the famous Rubby Dubby Doo.

A great shave today, nice and smooth, extremely soothing, and without any issues. I am really beginning to understand why folks who start off with a round point have such a difficult time using a square point. This razor is so much easier than a square point to maneuver that it's like an entirely different creature. A two pass wtg/atg shave followed by an icy cold water rinse resulted in zero nicks and zero irritation. I really love this superlather and could easily see myself using this every day. Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash Razor: Sterling 5/8 extra hollow Brush: Omega 11137 Soap: Superlather of Proraso White and Kiss My Face Cool Mint Post: Cold water rinse
Prep: Proraso White Brush: NF Tubby 1 Cream: Ingrams Menthol Cream Razor: Weber DLC/UFO U2 - Polisilver Post: profs ASB mixed with 444 Lovely refreshing shave!
TSD preshave balm +M-Bomb 8/8 W&B restored by Glen Vie-Long horsehair brush Ceramic bowl TSD ISZ soap +M-Bomb Cold water L'Oreal AS splash M-Bomb "balm" Proven setup that delivers. It was "double trouble" shave - first, with all that menthol I could not feel my face at all, second, my hands were shaking badly after heavy gym workout. The end result was not as close as I could normally get, but it was an interesting challenge, and comfortable, smooth and frosty cold shave.
Menthol Monday: Axe Chilled Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new 7 AM Gada Cool Mint Diana Sport Menthol Balsam Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash Givenchy Gentleman EDT I'll be starting the week off with an intensely-cooling set-up. The Axe Chilled wash really is just mildly cooling, but everything else like the Gada Cool Mint cream, the Diana balsam, and The Penguin are unbelieveably frigid. This is a set-up which I don't recommend for anyone who is sensitive to strong menthol - it could be painful and it also tends to make the eyes watery.
Menthol Monday, my first! Prep: The usual shower with Matas Face Wash regular (I need another face wash for diversity..) Soundtrack: Smooth Jazz @ Sky.fm Brush: Semogue 1520 boar Lather: Proraso "Green" shave cream in IKEA bamboo bowl Weapon: Mühle R89 w/Shark SS (1) Post: Cold water, alum, cold water and finished off with Williams Ice Blue I might have messed up the lather - it was not as good as I thought - the cushion the most. Will have to try it again soon. The menthol effect however was very different from what I normally use. I don't know if I like it.. I felt more like "ooh ooh!!" than "aahhh....". I don't hate it, that much I do know. I may need to get used to it.

Menthol Monday: Axe Chilled Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new 7 AM Godrej Menthol Mist SC Diana Sport Menthol Balsam Barbon AS Givenchy Gentleman EDT Here's a set-up which is guaranteed anyone to death - ok, the Axe Chilled wash is not colder than hell, but everything else is. The Godrej Menthol Mist cream has intense menthol power which takes effect instantly, the Diana balsam is altogether ultrapotent, and the Barbon aftershave also hits with a freeze of its own.
Another Menthol Monday with traditional set up TSD preshave balm+M-Bomb 8/8 W&B restored by Glen Vie-Long horsehair brush Ceramic bowl TSD ISZ soap +M-Bomb Cold water splash Ice cube L'Oreal Expert AS splash M-Bomb "balm" When I figured out that tube cold water is not so cold, I just took an ice cube from the freezer and rub it all over the face before putting the splash. That was an interesting addition to the routine!

Menthol Monday: Axe Chilled Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new 7 AM Gillette Menthol SC 444 AS Balsam Barbon AS YSL Pour Homme EDT If you guys want to call me a menthol freak, just go right ahead and do so - you all have my permission. The Gillette Menthol cream from Europe is a hell of a lot better than the Lebanese version - a nicer scent and better skincare. The cooling effect hits pretty hard also, especially during the 2nd pass. The 444 balsam and the Barbon are great at extending the chill.

So...here I am back in Phoenix, AZ. Lived here for 15 years before taking a job requiring relocation. Staying at a well known resort just 5 miles north of Rubinov's..temps are 105 degrees plus.. Picked up some Italian Palm Olive Menthol, and some Gillette Menthol. For this Menthol Monday, the Palm Olive did the trick. Face freezing cold...by the way I never leave home without Osage Rub love that stuff. What a great way to face 105 degrees. Also a shower with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap really cools, and I can think of no better way to start a day than with intense Menthol. Think I'm getting my son hooked on Menthol and wet shaving in the process. All things considered, Menthol with a purpose, and good time with son and grand kids. doesn't get any better. Menthol Mondays live long and prosper!
Menthol Monday: L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new 7 AM Iced Subzero SS Diana Sport Menthol Balsam Osage Rub AS Givenchy Gentleman EDT It gives me so much pleasure to use a set-up like this because I'm such a menthol freak, and proud of it. The L'Oreal face wash is not the coldest thing, but it's colder than the Axe Chilled, and the ISZ soap is the "mother of all face-freezing soaps." The combination of the Diana Sport balsam and the Rubby Dubby Doo is so powerfully-frigid that a lot of guys I know cannot handle it.
