Monday 06/03 Hot shower, followed by a facial wash from Axe Chilling Chelsea's Garden Katmandu Semogue 1460 Gillette Fatboy Super Max SS Pinaud Lilac Veg, Fitness Three passes for the a great DFS.
I've decided to continue with the week long loyalty idea, so for the rest of the month I'll stick with one set up per week. I am expecting my Parker SRW to come in soon, so I may have to switch razors out in order to give this thing a try, but other than that it's one set up all week every week. I started it off with a superlather of PdP and KMF Green Tea & Bamboo, my spifftastic Comoy Super Badger brush, and my trusty Union Cutlery 5/8. Following a hot shower and warm water splashes to the face I did a three pass with the grain/against the grain/across the grain shave and finished up with a cold water rinse. The superlather was perfect. It created mountains of slick lather that did an excellent job of protecting my face and smelled nice and green. Imagine holding a freshly cut sapling up to your nose while sitting on a newly mown lawn and you'll have the scent. My Comoy brush held up beautifully and produced the lather with zero difficulties. I did a bit of experimenting with blade angles and directions of attack without any real ill effects and I received a damn fine shave with only mild irritation on my neck. My skin feels soft and smooth in a talc sort of way rather than in the slick sort of feeling that I get from heavy glycerin soaps or from after shave balms. There is a slight soapy sort of scent lingering in the background that I like quite a bit. Overall this was an excellent shave and the perfect beginning to my desert island month. For tomorrow morning (Tabac Tuesday): Merkur Slant Personna Lab blade Fred K Dickinson and Gilroys LTD travel brush Tabac Aqua Velva umm...green...sport...something. John Varvatos Vintage cologne First DE shave at the gym. Should be fun. I'm posting in advance because I don't think I should bring a camera into the locker room. I've pared down my kit a bit for this excursion. No Proraso pre-shave, and no alum. I think I'll be okay without the pre as my soap has peppermint oil in it (Dr. Bonner's). I'll just have to trust my skill with the slant not to get razor burn, and put on extra Aqua Velva. In case anyone's interested, the white tube holds baking soda and water, which is what I use as shampoo.
6/8 Ern Klar Klassic SS 22mm TGN synthetic knot I picked up this Ern a while back, first shave with it. The blade was entirely sharpened on coticules but I found it a bit lacking. I'll do a touch up this evening and get it ready for tomorrows shave. I sold my synthetic brush and was missing it so I made another. Have a good one.
Tuesday: NXT Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/7 AM day 2 Pascale SC Svoboda AS Balsam Grey Flannel AS Grey Flannel EDT I like these 7 AM blades but I still prefer the Rapiras. I got a good BBS shave today, but for some reason it seem to be quite as comfortable as yesterday. My man Veli in Bulgaria sent me this great Pascale cream which lathers like a maniac and has a beautiful scent, and a very mild menthol sensation. Thank goodness for the Svoboda balsam because it really helped me a lot today.
