Look I love Japan, Love the culture the people the language their ways of doing things. not nessesary the modern Japan but also not nessesary the old Samurai Era. But what I do know is they always had something with Fish ? Why is it they dont see or understand that the way they do their fishings is kinda dramatic , and we cant threat the ocean this way and this is not only the Japanese im sure other countries behave bad aswell we dont respect the ocean soon its going to hit us back just like global warming has already hit us. Warning Extreme disturbing images watch on own risk ! http://www.glumbert.com/media/dolphin
Not to protect the Japanese, I work for a Japanese company, they do however live on an island and have been reliant for the sea for food and livelihood for thousands of years. They also still think whale hunting is a good thing and take a number of whales each year for "research." There a bunch of countries, including people from own U.S., the Alaskan natives, who believe whales should be part of their diet and livelihood. I don't agree with any of it. Whales, dolphins, apes, chimpanzees, dogs and many other animals of higher intelligence are on people's dinner plates for one reason or another. It's a tragedy.
I'm sorry, I did watch that entire clip and to be honest there is no difference in the way the dolphins are treated and the way fish captured by fisherman (professional and amatuer) are treated, it only looks worse because a dolphin is so much larger and, to much of the West, more respected than a tuna or salmon. Honestly, unless you are willing to completely forgo eating all meat and using any animal product, the truth is that there is no reasonable means to perform truly "humane" hunting/fishing/raising & slaughtering of livestock on the massive level needed for modern commercial needs.
I was just reading at CNN that the Navy is training dolphins and sea lions to patrol the waters at Pueget Sound, this was an awesome article! http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/12/dolphins.sealions.ap/index.html
Tuna is just as bad unfortunate and I wont give up my Tuna intake the cans I eat each week for my Proteine intake. I have seen a documentary where it showed lots of Dolphins get killed by accident aswell catching Tuna but they did nothing with the Dolphins and throw them back into the sea ??? thats even worse then what the Japanese are doing atleast eat them then ??? So there are some companies out there who are like Tuna friendly catchers you can find it on some Tuna cans it will say No Dolphins were killed in the process of Catching the Tuna. They were trying to find the captain who signed the paper that stated no Dolphins were killed. kinda dodgy the whole situation there is no way of really finding out if any dolphins were killed so that label on the can pretty much is well commercial novelty?
At least if they are thrown into the sea then nature can take it's course and the dead animal is consumed by other creatures of the sea.
