    Hi Friends,

    Sunday shave:

    -hot shower
    -1960 Gillette Fatboy
    -Super Max Platinum blade
    -Tabac shave soap
    -HJM Black Sythetic Fibre
    -Lucky Tiger Aftershave

A nice shave. Not so thoroughly as i wanted to have it,but i think it´s the angle of the Gillette.I shaved in 3-passes.With the grain on setting No. 7,across the grain on 5 and against the grain on 3.Nevertheless a very good shave. The Lucky Tiger was hidden in the very last corner and i didn´t use it for about over 8 months...smells very fruity and helps to sooth the skin.I will use it more often now.

Hope all of you had a fine time and will have a good start into the new week.:)

    Greetings from Germany.

    Dove Men's Face Wash
    TOBS Lavender SC
    Parker Pure Badger Brush
    Schick E2 w/CVS SS blade
    CWR
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Pinaud Clubman AS

Today, the SE Tour is continued with the Schick E2. After a week of great shaves, this one stands out as the most aggressive. It was a very close shave with no cuts, nicks, or abrasions. However, the aftershave caused much stinging. I don't know if it is the blade or the razor, but I may retire this razor for a while. The Parker made loads of great lather after only 4 swirls of the TOBS SC. Tomorrow, the Schick E3 will come out.

I started my Menthol Monday a night early... couldn't wait.

Prep: hot shower, face wash with Palmolive Menthol.
    Brush: WD Silver Tip.
    Cream: Palmolive Menthol
Razor: '71 Black Beauty (first use) set on 6 for the first pass, 3 on the second.
    Blade: Personna Lab.
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's WH Lavender, Barbon AS.

This shave reminded me why I need to use Palmolive Menthol more. It's easily in my top 5 cream/soap list. It lathers up real easily, smells nicer than Proraso Green, and is also cooler. If you haven't used this yet, I suggest you pick up a tube. I am down in Florida at my parents' condo and will be leaving that tube down here. I will buy another one when I get back home. I am really digging this Black Beauty already. I don't know if I like it more than my Slim, but I am really getting into adjustables as of now. My Barbon is my go to splash besides Floid Blue. It's not a face freezer, but it cools down your skin while it closes your pores.

Case, Fatboy, Sunrise (2), Speick cream & aftershave

I only had time for one pass due to a stir-crazy toddler, and I was in a hurry with her yelling, but my shave turned out surprisingly well. I went with cold water again because it's hot again today (it's supposed to maybe reach 90 which is comparatively rare here), and I'm loving the dual Speick action.

2 days in a row with the same set up
    Torrey
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
    Tabac shaving stick
    Cold water splash
    Ice cube
That Torrey gives me one of the most enjoyable and comfortable shave I ever could manage with the straight. So I decided do not fix what is not broken and just repeat the set up for the second day. I usually do not need any extra AS treatment after Tabac, but as it is hot now, I just use ice cube in the same manner that I use alum.

Tonight's shave before bedtime - Maiden Voyage...

Pre: Shower and facial scrub with Nubian Heritage African Black Soap, Anthony Logistics Pre-Shave Oil
Soap: Pyrate Cove Bay Rhum and Lime
    Brush: Semogue 2030B
Razor 1: Australian Damascus Magnetic Steel Straight
    Razor .5: Merkur Futur
Post: Alum, warm rinse, Oil of Olay Toner, Shea Moisture A/S, Raw Shea Butter

Interesting shave tonight. Halfway through my first pass I decided to use my straight all the way through. The first pass went well, though I still have to remind myself never to approach my face with a horizontal razor (avoided any mishaps, though). The second pass, I did a combination of XTG and AGT, depending on what hand I was using and which stroke felt more comfortable in whichever area I was shaving. Somewhere through the second pass, I detected that the razor didn't feel as sharp as normal - or it could have been that I've never gone against the grain before and didn't know how the resistance would feel. I fumbled my way to a DFS but I can still feel it when I rub my hand AGT in some spots. It'll stay there for the next shave. My face feels very good and I won't risk any irritation. The alum barely registered, which was great. As Chicago Cub fans are wont to say, "wait 'til next time!".

    First cold water DE shave.

I love menthol, I always do an extremely cold rinse after every shave, I don't enjoy saunas and hot tubs...so I ask myself, "do I really like hot water shaves, or will a cold one suit me better?"....

I am a believer! Probably the most comfortable shave of all my DE shaves to date. Skin was nice and tight, face seemed to stay wetter in between passes, and just felt right. Now it's hot, and I hate the heat, (hence my locale) and that may have somethng to do with the pleasure I felt, but I'm going to pursue this new avenue of shaving and see if it really is for me.

It seems like a few of us have tried cold-water shaving for the first time this week. I guess it makes sense, given the season and the heat wave sweeping parts of the US. Shaving with cold water was the way I did it for years, actually, but it didn't involve a nice brush and DE razor, rather it was the way I was taught to do it in basic training, by large angry men with little patience. I vaguely remember cold water being part of it because it "prevents infection." I continued to shave that way for nearly the next 20 years, viewing shaving as a hurdle to surmount quickly and brutally, rather than slowly and luxuriously. It wasn't until SWMBO gifted me my first brush a couple years ago that I ever used hot water, and it's been great, and I have no plans to stop doing it. Cold water shaving with a brush and all of the goodies is a different animal than what I've experienced before, however, and I'll probably vary the water temperature I shave with to suit the mood of the day from now on. . .

I am more of a lukewarm shaver. I can use cold water if I have to, but I would rather have it just a step above cold. However, a menthol shave with cold water is the bomb! That is my favorite shave right there.
