Case, Fatboy, Sunrise (3), Castle Forbes Lavender cream & aftershave

Using a smaller brush with the Castle Forbes cream helps a bit in controlling the lather, but I'm still far from having it dialed in. Today I actually squeezed the cream out of my brush after the first lather, and used it to swipe off half of what I'd applied before my first pass. I'm not sure I'll be able to use a smaller amount than what I did today, unless I start using a popsicle stick or something to scoop out a little dab of the cream and put it directly into my bowl. Decent shave, but struggling with the cream consistency was distracting.

Omega 20102 Pro boar w/ ARKO soap,
Hot water and bowl lather for a DFS—
Finish w/ Captain's Choice Bay Rum!

A great shave! The Arko smells so good and it's lather so soothing and the skin care so excellent.

    Aces!

    Sunday

    Hot shower
    Green Marvy Mug
    Arko SS
    TGN 24mm Mountain Badger
    Red Tip
    Treet Black (2)
    Cold water rag
    Speick splash

3-pass DFS. Pretty much any time I grab a razor other than the R-41 (2011) I have to take an extra pass, like today. The shave was nice though. Everything was dialed in just perfect so I did some blade buffing and j-hooking, chasing a BBS that I gave up on long ago. Were I try for BBS with the R-41, I am pretty sure I would be one big pain unit.

I had a great shave with the Silver Blue. The Silver Blues seem to hit or miss with me, one blade love them next blade hate them. Anybody else have issues with these blades?

Today's shave was the first shave with the upgraded C40 brush. Being filled with metal and epoxy/glue the C40 is now very solid with plenty of heft. The TGN synthetic 24 mm is still one of the very best values on the market. It worked up more than enough lather for a head shave and two face passes with more than enough extra to spare.

    Sunday (evening shave)

My Fusion Power had an accident due to Act of Cat, breaking the last of the cartridges I had for it. Knowing I'm about to buy a proper DE razor, I opted to stock up on a few disposables to tide me over until said DE's arrival rather than throwing half the cost of a new razor at a pack of cartridges I don't plan on using all the way through. So. . . .

Warm water face and brush soak
    VDH Boar brush
    VDH original scent soap
Bic Comfort 3 disposable razor :scared001:
    WTG, ATG
Dickinson's Witch Hazel with cotton swab
Nivea for men Energy Aftershave Balm

Surprisingly DFS, with no nicks or weepers or post-shave burning. I decided due to the hour and the unfamiliar blades to forego the usual XTG pass, but overall I'm pretty pleased. To my sensibilities, the Bic is a bit of a sharper blade than the Gillette, so I'll have to see if that holds true for more than a the few examples I've seen thus far.

He apparently missed me during my vacation, so jumped up on my (big, old-fashioned open-tub style) sink to "help" me brush my teeth, knocking the razor right off the sink to the floor.
