Nice shave this morning. Just when I had my soaps under control (down to about 4 or 5) I went on a soap bender last week and ordered a few more. The first to arrive was Barrister & Mann. It seems to be good stuff, great lather, good skin care. Unsure about the protection and scent (heather, sage and vetiver), it'll take a few more shaves. Have a good one.

Mennen Skin Bracer AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

Man, that was a great shave - after almost going crazy trying to choose a cream or soap for today I finally went with the Gillette Menthol stuff, and I'm glad that I did. The scent, lather, and skincare are so good - in fact a lot better than the version from Lebanon. Thank goodness for the Anherb conditioner and the Mennen Skin Bracer because not only are they very cooling, they're soothing! ;) :D

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: VDH Original Unscented
Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 Open Comb
    Blade: Shark Hi-Chromium (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals Unscented ASB
Cologne: Burberry Brit Man by Burberry

Went ahead with the 3rd (ATG) pass this morning, and while I caught the BBS (save for one spot under the chin), my face is not happy. By the time I was addressing my goatee area with that third pass, my cheeks were feeling like I'd used some new cinnamon-based shave soap; the ASB calmed it down a little, but the burn wasn't entirely gone even then. One tiny weeper showed up on a typical trouble spot on my neck, as well.

I would stick with two passes. As your technique improves so will the shaves. Don't chase the BBS, just enjoy a nice comfortable close shave. The hair grows back and the bbs is gone in a few hours anyway leaving you with the resulting irritation. I do a N to S and a S to N pass with an occasional bit of touch up along the jaw line. I am near bbs and have a nice comfortable irritation free shave. A few weeks ago, I had forgotten why I only do 2 passes and did a third. I had to skip the next day as my neck was torn up and I had a bunch of ingrowns. This is all my opinion and as always, ymmv.

One shave doesn't go well, not to mention it's just your first, and you're ready to throw in the towel?!?! Hang in there, Man!!! We're all on your side and rootin' for ya!!!

Just caught my eye - you said you "moved down the neck WTG." Are you sure you have mapped your beard correctly? I only ask because down the neck for me is ATG. And since the neck is the most sensitive area... many folks can't go ATG on the neck even using a DE, let alone a straight razor.

Petal Pushers kokum butter shave soap, unscented
    Mühle hjm synthetic brush

Three passes, smooth results. I lost track of how many times this blade has been used. Today is definitely the last time-there was a little bit of roughness.

Really lovin the Innsbruck. It's by far my favorite AS Splash! Just a hint of sting, excellent cooling, great scent, and doesn't seem to dry out my skin like other alcohol based splashes. Have a blessed day all!

Among people who regularly contribute to this forum, its safe to say we all have either Prorasso Green or CO Bigelow. Its really no wonder, it is certainly one of my favorite cremes. Its very refreshing. I'm overcoming my menthol crème bias in the hot summer months. Have a good one gang.

Yup, the Mentolo is a great product! Today we had 95° F. I was on the Autobahn for a couple of hours at 100 mph... I was so lucky to have my air condition working :)
