    MONDAY
    Menthol Monday

    a. PRE: Hot shower, hot towel, Proraso Menthol Pre-shave Cream
    b. RAZOR: Merkur 38c HD Barber Pole
    c. BLADE: Astra SP (day 4)
    d. BRUSH: Whipped Dog 30mm Silvertip Badger
    e. SOAP: Proraso menthol cream, scuttle-warmed
    f. SHAVE: 3 passes (WTG, XTG, ATG) + touch up
    g. POST: Cold water wash & dry; Osage Menthol Rub, Pre De Provence balm

Cool & refreshing menthol-morning; nice contrast between the very warm lather & cool tingle of the menthol!
I could leave my face lathered all day! ;) Close to a BBS shave this morning. A very nice start to the week!

The little dab of Proraso whipped up into a prodigious amount of wonderful lather. Two passes and a little clean-up with the Shark blade made for a great shave. This blade is proving to be a most efficient blade. With this long comb NEW it seems, I can do no wrong.

I felt like giving a neglected product a second chance. I love eShave creams, but I have found their soaps to be somewhat lacking. They're not bad, just not as good as the creams. I always manage to buy their products for a fraction of the MSRP, so I find them to be well worth what I pay, but I judge them based upon their actual retail price (would I buy this product at full price?), so I tend to be hard on them if they do not muster up. I have the Linden soap currently and I love the scent, but feel ambivalent about its performance. I am using French soaps this week (eShave products are made in France), so I figured that today would be a good day to give the Linden another go. Having played with my vintage Gillettes and RiMei for a while now, I am also returning to my beloved disposable blade straight razors. My Fromm still has a blade in it with maybe a shave or two, so it was the obvious choice.

I did a three pass wtg/atg/xtg shave followed by a cold water rinse and some T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel. A nice DFS with no nicks (although I nearly had disaster strike when I was careless in placing the blade against my upper lip), and no irritation. I was a bit aggressive and was certain that I would walk away with some redness, but the excellent skin care properties of the eShave soap and the astringent properties of the witch hazel saved me from myself. The eShave Linden did really well. I don't know if I have the EMJ synthetic and face lathering to thank or if I just didn't give it enough of a chance the first few times I used it, but it was a joy to use today. I will use the Linden some more this week, and I may have to revisit the other eShave soaps if it continues to perform as well as it did today. My skin is soft, smooth, and happy.

Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash
    Razor: Fromm hair shaper
    Blade: Fromm hair shaper blade
    Brush: Every Man Jack Synthetic
    Soap: eShave Linden
Post: Cold water rinse and T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel

    Personna Lab (2)

2-pass CCS. The shave was close but the blade was tuggy. The second pass improved with more water so it might not be the blade, just the operator.

    Hi gents, my shave today:

    Warm water,
    Arko Shave Stick,
    Mühle grey badger,
    NTS DE-Shavette loaded with
    half a Personna Platinum (wtg/atg),
    cold water,
    Proraso Balm,
    Windsor Cologne.

Didn't nick myself as with the Feather Artist Club, much better shave with cheaper gear. I still have to work on the combination of scents. Arco, Proraso and Windsor don't fit together that much. Apart from that, the shave was very close to BBS :)

    Have a nice day!

Inspired again by my dear friend Veli, and because it was he who sent me this fantastic SuperMax Menthol cream I decided to use it again this morning and I'm so happy that I did. The scent is like peppermint candy, (at least to me!) the lather explodes instantly, and the cooling effect is very pleasant. The Svoboda balsam is from Dmitry, (Asd) another great friend of mine. This balsam is one of the best I've ever had. The Skin Bracer gave my face that "ahhhhhhhhhh, thanks - I needed that" feeling! ;) :D

    Tuesday:

Prep: Hot washcloth compress, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Dorco 300 (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
Cologne: Burberry Brit for Men by Burberry

Only two passes again today, due to two possibly related factors. The first was lingering irritation around the Adam's Apple. The second was the Dorco 300, which honestly felt like two different blades, depending on which side of the DE was against my face. One side was smooth as satin, the other felt like it had been sand-blasted. I'm wondering how much of this was a QC issue for Dorco, how much of this was my skin being irritated to begin with, and how much of it was imagined. DFS+ otherwise, especially considering I skipped the ATG.

Just one of the reasons I don't care for the Dorco 300. But that's me.
I do like the Dorco ST-301, though.
