Agreed, missing end caps. They are just cosmetic anyhow.

It couldn't lose the end caps because, the end caps are part of the pivot mechanizm for the silo doors. The Ranger Techs had separate pieces on each side to operate the silo doors. (As Bobs photo shows; they are separate on each side.) The head height could be a early Flair tip (1954-1962) but, the end caps are just not right for this model. ???? Anyone have any ideas?

If that is the SS I gave him, the end caps have been removed and are on a nice Red Tip right now. It has a date code and everything is lined up.

End caps have soldered on cover, when removed they look like the ranger tech end caps.

Rockets and English SSs are one piece though.

    Razor: ER 1912
    Blade: GEM Blue Star
    Brush: BF Greenie
    Stick: St. James
    Post: Alum & Thayer's
    AS: St. James

The Blue Stars might have given all my SEs a reprieve. Had a Great BBS shave with the 1912.

(The handle is not mine. It is from a pass around next door but really going to be sad when I have to send it back.)

Yeah...The handle is really cool. I just recently picked up a few SE's, one is a GEM 1912, would be pretty nice with a handle like that! Do you know where the handle was purchased?

A member on here wquiles made it. It is a prototype and solid titanium, I had to use an adaptor to use it on the 1912. It was made for standard DE heads.

The covers fall off quite a bit on the SS style razor and rarely on the Slims. The weird thing is the Fat Boy has same style covers but I have never seen one missing them. They must have used better stuff to put them on with.

Today's shave was pretty unique. You'll find out why in a second.

Prep: hot shower, TBS Maca Root Face Wash, Alba Botanical scrub.
    Brush: Vulfix Burlington.
    Razor: Shake Sharp (first use.)
Blade: Gillette Super Blue carbon steel.
    Cream: Mem Olive.
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's WH Lavender, Krampert's Frostbite.

Guys, I had a pretty good shave, considering my first time using a completely new razor. The Shake Sharp did a pretty good job at mowing down my two day stubble. I was really relaxed and focused the entire time. I made sure my prep was spot on, so I would get a good first impression with this razor. The thing that makes this razor unique, is the honing mechanism inside the razor. You load a carbon steel blade and shake the razor to activate the mechanism and sharpen the blade. I did one pass WTG and then another pass ATG with a combo of J-hooks thrown in there. The Mem Olive also contributed greatly to this shave. It lathered up in no time and then protected my face as the stubble came off. Now the Krampert's... man, if you love menthol, you need some of this. I'll post a review of it and tell you why in a minute. Same with the Shake Sharp.

I got my Flair Tip out and looked at the end covers closely and I can see where there is a very thin metal cover over the end pieces. I never noticed them before; I thought the end caps, (the word "caps" should have made a light come on but, it didn't) were, I assumed, (and you know what they say about that) solid bar end pieces. (Spanners that kept the silo doors in alignment when activated and provided the pivot points of the silo door end pins) I have never seen a Gillette razor that had them come off before. Thanks for the info Jacob; I learn something new every day!

    Gillette Sensitive Cream
Lavender and Grapefruit CHL Pre (test)

Another great shave from the Bullet Tip and another amazing cheap cream from Gillette.

I Was curious about the whole CHL thing and since I detest the scent of plain CHL I was hesitant to try it. But, my wife came home with some because of a recommendation from someone she works with for dry hands. She hated it too. I had some Eo's so I doctored it up and let it sit for a few weeks. Finally cracked open the bottle today and...it was actually tolerable. I figured now was a good time to try it seeing as though I was using a very neutral scented cream. It actually worked pretty well. Made it nice and slick with a scent that was pretty pleasant. I reapplied in between every pass and got a nice close shave with no irritation at all. So I'm a quasi believer now.

Oh boy, this set-up freezes like the Arctic - trust me on that. The Nivea facial wash is quite cooling and gives good moisturizing, the Awakenings soap is almost a match for ISZ, and the Diana balsam is unique because I never saw anything else of its kind in menthol power, and the Penguin is also frigid. A great shave today! ;) :D
