The TSD wheat cream was great as always, and the very soft black fiber brush made an excellent, abundant leather on my face. I have been trying different blades lately, but today I came back to a reliable pairing for me, fat handled Tech with a Gillette yellow. Three passes, very smooth and close, and my face feels great!

I haven't used the DRHarris soap in a while & I had a heck of a time getting decent lather.
Finally I gave in & added a dab of the Mem cream. That did the trick! DFS+

Had someone waiting for me, so only two passes this morning and no ASB, though I didn't rush things otherwise. The Merkur got a little tuggy by the time I was at my neck on the XTG pass, and the alum found a couple otherwise unseen weepers. DFS otherwise, considering.

Today was day four for the Wilkie, I should have changed the blade today. Less then stellar DFS.
Tomorrow I will start with a fresh Merkur Blade, to discover for myself how this blade performs. Pairing it with a Gillette Black Handled SS.

 

My previous shave with the Gillette black handle Super Speed and the Merkur blade was so good that I did not need another shave until today. I kept the razor/blade combo the same in honor of super speed week and to see how well the Merkur does on shave #2. I used Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes, and Peppercorns soap and my AoS Fine Badger brush to set the scene.

I did my usual three pass wtg/atg/xtg shave followed by a cold water rinse and T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel. The results were another smooth as glass finish. My skin fells nice and soft, and I could rub cotton balls across my face all day long without a single fiber snagging. I did manage to nick the mole on the underside of my chin and get a tiny patch of irritation by my right ear, but that was due to my rushing rather than any fault of the equipment or products used. This Merkur blade continues to impress and amaze me.

Same shave this morning as yesterday. I am coming to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter what set up I use anymore. After three plus years of practice, I am able to pull an excellent shave using any razor or blade I have in my den ranging from a travel tech to an OCMM.

I switched the Shark from the New to the SS and got another great shave. This blade is like the Eveready Bunny. I think, when I retire it, that I will use it to make a blade safe.​
