Yup...We have Walgreens. When I looked at their website it says only available online...I will investigate further!

Sometimes you can find them in "mom and pop" drug stores. Let your fingers do the walking. You should be able to find a local provider.

Some of my L types have a crown logo embossed on the head, others have a triangle. The I types are the same mixture. Anyone know what the significance is?

I just got back from a few days in Vegas with my "L1." It got me bag searched at LAS security, but once they saw what it was in person, it was no problem.

Good eye :happy088: Eversharp Co. was the parent company of Schick from 1946-69 (G-type to the middle of the L-years), and they seem to have had a series of identity crises. They played around with their logos & razor names quite a bit. Some injectors in this era were marketed under only the Eversharp name rather than Schick stamp. Others had both names. Alan G. Appleby suggested that this was Eversharp's attempt to distinguish the injectors from their Schick "dry shavers" (electrics). For example, the K-types were marketed as "Lady Eversharp" with no mention of "Schick" on the box. (They have a cursive L on the head instead of the crown or triangle.)

    Appleby's site has more Schickstory...

Just wondering...can you strop SE blades to sharpen them?

You definitely can. Whether it's worth it is another question. Carbon steel blades tend to benefit from stropping moreso than stainless.

I do, right along with my DE blades and my str8 blades. I look at it this way - folks who use str8s always strop their blade either before or after (sometimes both) the shave, regardless if it's a stainless steel blade or carbon blade. It helps smooth the edge and provide a more comfortable shave, at it increases the number of shaves obtainable before needing another trip to the hone. I figure the same for DE and SE blades - smooth the blade out and get a few more comfortable shaves; only instead of going to the hone when stropping no longer is effective, toss the blade.

    Three schools of thought:
    1) It works
    2) It doesn't work
    3) Even if it does work, blades are so cheap, why bother

    I'm in camp #1.

Yo Steve....just wanted to remind you of that old adage.....something about -too much hand-stropping can.....you know......something to do with leading to impaired vision.....:happy097:

This is why I hate the Personna injector dispensers. I have a couple packs of Personna injector blades left from a bunch that I bought in 2009 or 10 when the stores were closing them out and decided to use some. I opened a pack of Personna platinum chrome blades that had 2009 on the package, and here's what happened when I was trying to load the first blade into a Personna injector. And this isn't the first time it's happened to me.

But, on a good note, the package stated that the dispenser contained seven blades, but when I took them out to reload into a better dispenser there was actually eleven blades, so, score!

Nice to see they come apart so easily Tom, must be a design feature :) I have been thinking of transferring my Personna blades the dispenser that came with my E3 ... maybe sometime soon.

I finally broke out my WWI issue Autostrop.

First the background story: This was owned to a very good friend of my Dad's. When my Dad was a boy, his dad left his mom and being the oldest son, it was left to my Dad to be the "man" of the house. Meanwhile, my Grandma was a single mom trying to raise 5 kids. They were poor and often hungry. My Dad took a job at 12 years old to help out. There was a older couple in the neighborhood who's kids had all grown up and moved on. They helped out my Dad's family tremendously. He told me that many times there'd be no food on the table if it wasn't for that couple. It wasn't all charity either. They would find jobs around their house for my Dad and his siblings to do, then pay them for their efforts.

My Dad never forgot that and when the old couple grew on in years, he started taking care of them. He would go over at least once a week to help out with anything that needing doing...shoveling snow, mowing, fixing things, driving them to their appointments, taking them shopping, etc. When the wife died, and the husband was now in his 90's, he started going over there every single morning to fix the old man breakfast. I remember going over there with my Dad when I was a little boy and it taught me about loyalty, generosity, being there for someone, and even friendship. The old man and I got along quite well. He always had candy for me and would give me trinkets from time to time (but that had nothing to do with enjoying his company). He was a cigar smoker and I loved the smells, and watching him work his cigars. Great memories.

Well this US Army issue AutoStrop belonged to him. It was issued to him when he was in WWI. At some point he gave it to my Dad, then my Dad passed away last winter, this was one of the things I got.

The razor is in fairly good shape. There's quite a bit of plating loss. It was quite black when I got it (which you can see in the some of the pictures), but it cleaned up well.

My first use was with a Feather SE blade. that did NOT go well. Plenty of nicks and weepers and not a very good shave. I was tempted to relegate it to a collection piece, but considering the background, I really want to use it on a regular basis.

I next tried a Pella PTFE blade, despined. The blade didn't center perfectly in the razor but it seemed to be aligned well along the blade, so I used. it. First shave with the PTFE was a bit rough again and I had to set it aside and let my face heal for a couple of days, then I went back to DE for a couple more days.

Last night I tried it again, going slower and not worrying about the shave quality. I ended up with just one nick and nearly a DFS! I think they're hope!
