Hi All, My name is Mike I have always done "Wet" shaving but I never really got interested in it all that much until I was asked if I could make a shaving soap. That really started an interest in what makes a good shaving soap and got me more into the subject. Up to that point I was using the bath soap that I make for shaving. I can say that I have evolved from that point and have, I don´t know how many , samples of shaving soap around my apartment now.
Welcome to TSD! Sounds like an interesting hobby. I'm sure plenty of us would be willing to try some of your stuff out
Welcome to the Shave Den! There are some people here who are experienced soap makers. I'm sure you will get good information. Be sure to check out the Shave of the Day!
Hi mike, lol ya all my 'failed' shaving bars end up as slippery and moistening hand soap..welcome to the Shave Den!..
Thanks everybody. Joe, I probably have like 60+ different mixtures that I tried. After all that I think I have an understanding of what the fatty acid Ratio should be inorder to get the results that I am looking for. Now it is just adjusting the formula for things like ease of loading the brush. Also, today I pressed my first round bars with the mixture with a press die I made. I got the shape I wanted so it did not turn out to bad for the first time.
Welcome! It took me quite some time before I came up with a shaving soap formula that I like and my customers like as well.
to TSD Mike D........I hope you enjoy it here.... You are sure in the right place to be a soap maker....
