Saturday: L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/Shark day 6 Cerrus SC Svoboda AS Balsam Mennen Skin Bracer AS I think it's been 2 years since I last used this Cerrus cream which was also discontinued. It's a very cheap German-produced drugstore brand with a hell of a nice scent and good lather and a mild cooling sensation. The Svoboda balsam and the Skin Bracer really beefed up the menthol feeling for me to make the end of this shave wonderful. Sorry, no time to show pictures because I have to leave the house in a bit of a hurry.

Before that, the Trig was performing as I expected, with a close, comfortable shave and BBS results.
Saturday Prep: Hot Shower Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum Stick Razor: ‘54 Gillette Super Speed Blade: Israeli Personna SP Brush: Omega 10066 Boar Aftershave: Krampert’s Bay Rum WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit) It was back to the “Sticks” today with the Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood stick. It lathers up OK, but is not in the same class as the Speick, Palmolive, La Toja, or yes…Arko sticks. I also tried my first Israeli Personna SP (Crystal) blade. The shave was great. The Israeli Personna did a nice, smooth job. I did notice a difference between my 5th shave with the 7 O’Clock Blue shave and my 1st with a new blade. I finished with Krampert’s Bay Rum. Come on weekend…….. Bob
Sat AM Shave 7 O'clock Black (1) Muhle R41 - S/S handle CELLA!! Frank Shaving Silvertip - Fan Florida Water A/S Pre de Provence balm First shave with the R41, and - at least for me - wasn't the scary beast I was thinking it was going to be. Now granted, it IS the supposed "tamed down" 2013 model, but it was a really nice shave! I definitely needed only two passes for an incredibly close shave (with the usual spot cleanup). Its def a keeper and will fit into the rotation VERY nicely! Plus it looks real cool!

Tour De Mike'sBarber Shop Conclusion Day 3: Another excellent shave with Mike's Barber Shop. Mike's Natural Barber Shop is just a great clean, classic masculine scent. It is the kind of scent you would want to go before you when entering the boardroom or any other room for that matter. It exudes a confident humility that lets others know you are there without being extravagant or obtrusive. It is a complex scent with great balance and unity that leaves one with the impression of the combined result rather than any singular dominant note. An excellent, slick, dense and easy to lather winner. Just try it...You will be glad you did! Up next...Mike's Natural Peppermint & Rosemary! Scoring and Summary can be found HERE. Have a blessed holiday weekend all!

Shave of the Day, Saturday August 31, 2013 • Prep: Brush soaked in ice water, tepid shower, 3P Prep Cream • Razor: iKon Slant • Blade: Persona Medical Prep • Brush: Vintage Stanley re-knotted with TGN High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Fan • Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus with extra menthol added • AS: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue with extra menthol added • Post: Cold Water Rinse, bath of aftershave Late shave today. Slept in a good while then was waiting around to hear President Obama's speech which was about 45 minutes delayed. I must give a shout out to Geo Fatboy, after watching his iKon Slant video I now know how to perfectly align the blade within seconds. For this particular razor it is much better to hold the head in your hand and twist the handle on while it is linear. Any complaints I may have about this razor are far outweighed by it's performance. Hands down it is my favorite razor in my den, pushing down the Merkur 37C Slant and the Merkur Progress to the number two and three positions. I wanted a nice and cool shave today and had no problem freezing my face off with the products that I used. I hope that all of you are enjoying your Saturday.
Today is a nice easy Saturday, so I'm using some equally easy gear. The brush is a newly reknotted plastic handled brush from an unknown manufacturer. I put a 20mm mixed loft boar/badger knot into it yesterday morning and am using it for the first time today. It looks nice and I have high hopes for it. The razor is a Sanguine SLiCKE disposable blade straight razor with a Super Iridium Extra Stainless blade on its third shave. This razor has quite a lot of heft to it, but it is also nicely designed with a fairly stream lined blade arm and a secure blade lock. I enjoyed the Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg soap yesterday, so I'm using it again today, but as part of a superlather with some Trufitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort cream. I did a three pass wtg/atg/xtg shave followed by a cold water rinse and some T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel. The results were an effortless BBS shave with zero nicks and zero irritation. The superlather whipped up really well and provided for an ultra slick surface that also left my skin silky smooth and soft without any feeling of greasiness, these two products really work well together and I will be sad when my sample of T&H Ultimate Comfort is gone. The razor flew across my face and was a joy to use. It's a low cost model easily found on eBay and is quite well made, I really like it. The mixed loft brush will take some breaking in, but did quite well for its first outing, this is my first mixed loft knot and if it is typical of these sorts of brushes then I will need to look into getting some more. This was the perfect Saturday shave: close, smooth, and easy. Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash Razor: Sanguine SLiCKE Blade: Super Iridium Extra Stainless Brush: Mixed Loft Boar/Badger Soap: Superlather of Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg and Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort Post: Cold water rinse and T.N.
