Shave of the Day, Wednesday September 18, 2013 iOS7 Release Day!
Prep: Brush soaked in cold water, tepid shower
    Razor: iKon Slant
Blade: Sputnik Stainless Steel with Teflon Coating
Brush: Vintage Stanley Home Products restored with TGN 22mm Fan High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Knot
    Soap: Martin de Candre
    AS: Aqua Velva Musk
Post: Cold Water Rinse, double splash of aftershave

I have been debating on selling the iKon Slant due to the imperfection of the blade pins in the top cap. I figured that I would give it one more shave to make up my mind. Of course today’s shave was flawless and easy that I just cannot do it. No matter what the shortcomings of this razor may be it still provides one of the best shaves of any razor that I have owned.

I am typically not a fan of Teflon coated blades but the Sputnik so far has given me great results in two different razors.

Enjoy your Wednesday everyone, I am personally counting down the minutes until the release of iOS7. All devices have been backed up, all apps have been updated (at least the ones that matter), so now us Apple Fanbois just have to wait until Cupertino makes it available.

    CeraVe foaming facial cleanser
    Mike's Natural soap, unscented
Burma Shave brush with TGN synthetic knot
    Schick type I injector
    Personna blade
    CeraVe lotion

The Mike's Natural soap always makes a great lather. The smell of this unscented soap is very mild and neutral. Three passes with a fresh Personna blade produced a very smooth result.

    Another predawn shave...

    1.Pre: Hot shower & face-towel; Citrus PSO
    2.Razor: Merkur 38c 'Barber Pole'
    3.Blade: Merkur Super
    4.Brush: Omega 48 Boar
5.Lather: Tabac soap; Pacific cream, liquid glycerin; all scuttle-warmed
    6.Shave: Three passes, plus touch-up
7.Post: Cold water rinse, Homemade Bay Rum AS, shea butter cream

A VERY mild shave—after using both the slant & Mühle, the 38c is oh-so mild! A Great shave that required a bit more effort to get AS close as the other more aggressive razors.
Very close to BBS. New aftershave was refreshingly 'spicy' and soothing; no burn.

    SOTD 09-18-13 Williams Week

    * Shower:
    • Soap: Irish Spring Original bar soap
    • Shampoo: Head & Shoulders with Old Spice scent

    * Shave:
    • Prep: Hot shower, Nivea Face Wash, Every Man Jack Signature Mint Face Scrub, Hot towel, Corn Huskers Lotion
    • Brush: Van Der Hagen Boar
    • Lather: Williams Mug Shave Soap
    • Razor: Dollar Shave Club Executive
    • Cartridge use: 4
    • Passes: WTG/XTG/ATG/RXTG
    • Post: Warm water rinse, Cold water rinse, Alum Block, Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm, Old Spice Aftershave

First day with my late start of Williams week. I had no problem getting a decent lather out of it. I used the technique that I used in my how to video and whipped up a nice lather. However, like I've said plenty of times, the lather is not the problem...this soap lacks severely in the lubrication department, after I shave an area it's totally dry, there is no moisturizing properties whatsoever, but it's not to the point to where it's totally uncomfortable. It's useable, but not by any means stellar. This was also my first time using an alum block, I was surprised as to how small it was. It's barely 2 inches. I applied it (very smart of me to kick off using alum with Williams huh?) after my shave...My God did it burn. I may have put too much on, I don't know but it burned pretty damn bad. I left it on while I brushed my teeth then rinsed off then applied my balm and Old Spice. I still feel a little discomfort from the Williams...then again I used it with a 6 blade razor so I'm sure that played a part of it. Have a great day folks.

Today's shave was on wide open (8). The Frank Shaving brush does an excellent face lather with Van Der Hagen Luxury Shaving Soap. This was the fifth shave with this blade, and it was a very nice one. Two passes and clean up on the neck area left me looking good. The Pinaud Clubman left me smelling good.

Thursday - another day closer. Are you ready?

Prep: Hot shower, Dirigo Blue Cedarwood PSO
Coffee: Maxwell House Master Blend, BLACK
CD: Lightnin' Hopkins ~ Lightnin' and the Blues: The Herald Sessions
    Soap: TSD Brut
Brush: Ever Ready 100T with original knot
    DE: Merkur 11C
Blade: ASR Platinum Chrome, day 4, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Brut ASB, Brut cologne
    'Stache Wax: Dirigo Blue

BBS. Kinda surprised me. I still felt a little rough along the jaw line after the final rinse. Half hour later, smooth as can be.

NEWBIES - This is not uncommon. It is also why it is not advised to "chase the baby." Many folks have noted that their face feels smoother given some time after the final rinse. If you're trying for BBS during the shave, that's when you'll wind up with razor burn and irritation. Let it come to you!

I still feel lousy although perhaps a bit better than yesterday so I'm staying home from work again today. At least I can say that I had a great shave which perked me up a little. I love the scent of the Wilkinson stick and the way it lathers, and it makes my skin feel very comfortable. The Polar Ice aftershave is so barbershoppy with the scent - I love it. My wife loves the scent of Aramis and so do I. ;) :D

    Thursday

    Prep: Hot Shower
    Soap: TOBS Avocado Cream
    Razor: Maggard MR1
    Blade: Personna Med Prep
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar
    Aftershave: TSD Signature(Iced by choice)
WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I pulled out the tub of TOBS Avocado today. It provided great slick and well cushioned lather…almost by itself. Day 5 with this Personna Med Prep blade in the MR1.This may have been the best shave of the 5 with this one blade! I finished with the TSD Signature Scent (Iced). It is a great conditioning Bay Rum scent with just the right touch of menthol added (optional).

    Back to 91 Degrees today…
