    Friday

    Prep: Hot Shower
Soap: Barrister & Mann-Vetiver, Heather, & Clary Sage
    Razor: Maggard MR1
    Blade: Lord Platinum
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar

    Aftershave: Krampert’s Bay Rum

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I got to try my first Barrister & Man soap today (Thanks Ryan B.). It provided good, easy, slick, and well cushioned lather. I was not wild about this scent. I also used my first Lord Platinum blade. It did fine. I finished with Krampert’s Bay Rum. Great finish and conditioning as usual.

Nothing about this morning shave as as planned, I even had to re-shoot my picture! I was planning on using the R41 again, but the MR3 was calling out to me.

I really like this razor, a lot actually. I would love to see a higher end version of it made although I am very happy with this one.

The shave was mild, yet very efficient, a great way to end the work week.

Have a great Friday everyone, the weekend will be here in a few hours!

Prep: Hot compress, Neutrogena Deep Cleaning Gentle Scrub
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: VDH Deluxe Unscented
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Sharp DuraBlade (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB

Had a day off from shaving yesterday. Today's shave was superbly BBS close, tug-free and nick-free, but my cheeks were a bit red by the end of it. The redness is probably my only complaint about these Sharp blades at this point, as my technique has improved.

    Yesterday's shave.

Prep: hot shower, TBS Maca Root Face Wash.
    Brush: Vulfix Burlington.
Razor: '62 Slim set on 6 for the first pass, 3 for the second.
    Blade: Personna Lab.
    Soap: Mike's Barbershop Stick.
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's Lavender WH, Myrsol Metilsol (first time use.)

Yesterday's shave was pretty decent. I love how I can always get a comfortable shave when I use Mike's. I also really like the Myrsol Metilsol. Its scent reminds me of the original Listerine. It made my skin feel tight, my pores closed, and really toned. It burned mildly, but not unbearably. I'm almost out of the Maca Root Face Wash, another trip to the Body Shop is in the near future. My neck is still recovering from my rough shave on Tuesday, but it looks and feels a lot better now.

    CeraVe foaming facial cleanser
    TSD unscented soap
Oscar11 custom brush with HIS synthetic knot
    Schick type G injector
    Schick blade
    CeraVe lotion

It's been a while since I used the Schick type G. It is clearly a more aggressive razor than the type I that I used yesterday, but it was a comfortable close shave. Three passes plus touch up on the chin and around the mouth.

As for blades, I was so certain Astra SP was my daily blade. Until yesterday when I received a 20-pack of Vikings Sword directly from Israel.
Ohh....my.... god...! Very very smooth blade and just as sharp as the Astra SP as far as I could judge. So-so packaging but NO wax-spots.
So am I done with Astra? Nope. Have I found a new blade to stock up on? Yes!
If the longevity is good (to me that's more than 3 shaves) I might get me a larger shipment of those.
Thanks for listening, and have a nice day!

Prep: warm shower, Burt's Bees face wash, Proraso Green pre/post
    Brush: Parker Synthetic
    Croap: Tabac + Proraso Green
    Razor: Merkur 37c
    Blade: 7 o'clock yellow
Post: cold water, alum block, Proraso Green lotion, Proraso Green pre/post

This shave started out extremely well. I remembered why I love the o'clock yellow blades - super smooth and sharp enough for me. BBS on my cheeks with ease and comfort. The problem is, that ease made me too bold, and I decided to try J-hooks on my third neck pass. It seemed to work great until I used the alum block and revealed my hubris. Angry burn and redness. It took a while for the alum to work - I had to make three passes over the three weepers that appeared after rinsing. About ten minutes later, I added another layer of Proraso green pre/post to squelch the burn.

Lesson: don't jump into advanced techniques yet! Get consistent great shaves with standard technique first. Second lesson: I don't need to chase BBS - without j-hooks I would have had a DFS.

    FRIDAY
After a day off from shaving yesterday...

    a. Pre: Hot shower & hot towel, Citrus PSO
    b. Razor: Merkur 39c 'The Sledgehammer" slantbar
    c. Blade: Personna Med
    d. Brush: Whipped Dog 30mm Silvertipbadger
    e. Lather: MWF soap, Pacific cream, liquid glycerin; scuttle-warmed
    f. Shave: 3 passes + touch-up
    g. Post: Cold water rinse; Osage AS, homemade lime/grapefruit balm; touch of Tabac cologne to mask any 'old man smell' residue from the Osage. ;)

Typical slant bar shave: comfortable and very close —even after only one pass. Usually two passes get me close to BBS, but I had some extra time and plenty of überlather to chase it.
BBS results, with no irritation. Have a great Friday all!

Today was the first time I ever used shims on any of my razors. It resulted in a bit more aggressive shave from an all ready relatively aggressive shaver...and it was wonderful :rah: Next time I'm going for 3 shims.
This was one of the if not "the" best shave in my life , I don' t know if it is because of the added bite from the shims or everything just added up.
