Hello Shave Den members. I'm not new to wet shaving, having come to it almost 3 years ago, and mostly having used DEs and SEs. I've used several kinds of disposable blade straight razors (sanguine, Parker, Universal, CJB, Feather, Kai) and just got a Kee 80 shavette type razor today, which, like the Universal shavette, holds a full DE razor. This week I've been trying to get used to using a straight, which is a Boker (honed by someone who knows what he's doing) I got from whippeddog a while back. 4 shaves in and I had a great shave this morning, so I think I'm hooked! Anyway, looking forward to spending some time on here and getting to know people a bit better.
to TSD Bluebriz..........I hope you enjoy it here.... I'm a DE/SE user myself, however on getting into straights...
Hi! Welcome to the Den. I'm a str8 user myself, but only on Saturdays when I can really take my time. Sundays it's always an SE; DEs for Monday through Friday.
Welcome to The Den! You will like the Boker so much that you will want to sell all of your shavettes to purchase a backup Boker, just in case.
Welcome to the shave den. Living in Japan, you should get a western style Japanese straight. The Japanese razors are beautiful and wonderful shavers.
Welcome, nice to have you. I have never tried a Japanese style straight, but now I'm interested. Japan also has some fine aftershaves too. Lucïdo, Mandom, and a few others.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys! @vwp528 I only just got one of the shavettes yesterday, so no plans to sell them just yet. I do see another Boker in my future though! Not sure I'll get one as cheap as this again though... @Lindyhopper66 I've never actually seen anyone or met anyone in Japan who uses anything other than cartridges, except for one man I met who had an injector. I've never met anyone who uses a straight! In fact most people say they're scary if I even mention traditional shaving. @Ryan B You're right, Japan has some great aftershaves. A bunch are now made in Vietnam now so maybe not quite as good, but still there are some excellent ones about. And regarding Japanese straights, I do have a recently honed Henkotsu, but I'm still learning on the Boker so haven't got around to using it yet. There are some beautiful razors made here though.
Welcome! My brother lives in japan, and I regularly send orders for injector blades and Lucido AS! What part are you in, if you don't mind me asking. It's great to have another member from Asia here!
