Very plain and simple kickoff for the week. Menthol Monday: L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new Rapira Nanny's Ice & a Slice SS Diana Sport Menthol Balm Barbon AS Aramis Stick Deodorant Aramis EdT One of the best face-freezing arrangements which can be found. The L'Oreal Men Expert facial wash is not only cold, it's also non-drying and very good for sensitive skin. I love the scent of the Ice & a Slice soap as well as the rich, creamy lather it gives and the skincare is top-notch, with POTENT menthol power. The combination of the Diana Sport balm and the Barbon aftershave might be too much for anyone who's not into such strong menthol.

What a great shave today! One of the best yet. It makes me wonder why I bother trying other razors. I did not shave yesterday, perhaps the extra length was just right for the Merkur. I noticed that this razor "sings" a different note than the Maggard... Not as loud, lower pitch, too, but every bit as effective for me. Actually, more effective, but I have only tried one blade in the Maggard so far. Have a great Monday!
Monday - Walk in the Woods Week TOBS Sandalwood face lathered with TGN Pure Badger in Ever-Ready Handle EJ89 with Personna Lab Blue (4) 3 passes and finish with homemade bay rum #1 Excellent Monday morning shave, even without menthol . The TOBS Sandalwood is a fine cream.
Monday: Prep: Hot shower, Crown Co. Supreme Glide Pre-shave lotion Brush: Beeline Boar Soap: Ginger's Garden Oakmoss Glycerin-in-a-jar (Walk In The Woods Week) Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Dorco-301 (2) Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Lucky Tiger Vanishing Menthol ASB (Menthol Monday) The good: My face is darn-near BBS, with zero redness, irritation, weepers, or nicks. By giving my face a break from balms for a couple of days and carefully avoiding using my bodywash on my face and neck (opting instead for a quick rubdown there with my shampoo), I avoided over-moisturizing my face, so it soaked up the Lucky Tiger just fine. The bad: I still have trouble lathering these glycerin-in-a-jar soaps satisfactorily; I may have to resort to distilled water to try to eliminate one possible issue (you know, just like your grandfather did when he shaved ). While my face is nearly BBS, my throat still has a couple of rougher patches.

The Polsilver and Slim both did a great job: smooth, close, & nick free shave. Slim on “6” today. I used the last of my Coate’s Rose Cream today. Good easy, slick lather. I finished with a blast of Barbon AS to kick start the work week. Bob
Sub Cero Tabac SS 28mm Omega knot Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum I've been on a roll of nice shaves, good one again this morning. 3rd handle for this brush and I think I'm finally satisfied with it's performance. Well, maybe. Have a good one.
SOTD Oct 21 Prep: hot shower Razor: Weishi 9306 Blade: Derby Extra Stainless Steel (day 1) Brush: Wilkinson Sword Cream: Musgo Real Classic Passes: 3 (WTG, XTG, ATG) Post: warm then cold water Wow! Fresh blade, check. Good lather, check. Best shave to date, check! I didn't end up with a BBS shave, but this is the closest I've come and no nicks or irritation! I'm still fighting with my jaw line, and Adams apple today but it's hardly noticeable. My shave does seem to be missing something though... I have some Proraso blue on order; I'm hoping will add that extra something.
Monday Prep: Hot shower, Dirigo Blue PSO Aroostook Coffee: Maxwell House, BLACK CD: Road Trippin' Blues, disc 2 Soap/Cream: Woods of Windsor + a dollop of KMF Unscented cream (because WoW doesn't lather too well, but I like the scent) Brush: Vulfix Burlington SE: PAL Adjustable, mid-way Blade: Schick, day 1, 3 passes Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Brut ASB, Brut cologne 'Stache Wax: Dirigo Blue First time using the PAL. I must say, if it came fixed at the middle position I would be happy with this razor - smooth and comfortable shave with darn near BBS results. Tomorrow I'll turn it up a notch and see how that goes.
Shave of the Day, Monday October 21, 2013 • Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, warm shower • Razor: Mühle R41, paired to Maggard MR3 Handle • Blade: Shark Super Stainless Steel • Soap: Petal Pusher Fancies Black Tea (not pictures, as was a sample) • Brush: Vintage Stanley Home Products restored with TGN 22mm Fan High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Knot • AS: Clubman Special Reserve • Post: Cold Water Rinse, double splash of aftershave Another shave with the Petal Pusher Fancies Black Tea. I just love this soap, it really did a great job providing a great lather for the R41. It felt like I was shaving with a Tech….okay, that is a slight exaggeration, but it sure made for one smooth shave. The PPF Black Tea and Special Reserve are made for each other. I smell so good that I would not be surprised if I have to fight off the ladies all day Have a great day everyone.

SOTD Monday 10-21-2013 5/8 H. Boker Radium, Full Hollow, Spike Point Proraso PSC Palmolive Classic SC GT G4 Scuttle Semogue 820 Boar Dickinson's Witch Hazel Nivea Replenishing ASB Mennen Original Skin Bracer Initial Solo run for the Boker I picked up a couple of days ago. This is a very nice shaver and the 5/8 size is my favorite. I have been wanting a Boker for some time and when I saw it I fell off the RAD wagon with a resounding thud! As you can see in the photo below, I couldn't help myself and picked up four more straights which I will be using this week. I didn't post yesterday as I was on the road all day but, I did test shave the four after I had got home, cleaned them up and ran them through the series of hones. All proved to be excellent shavers and are a welcome addition to my straight razor stash. My new aquisitions I will be using this week:
Foggy Monday CeraVe facial cleanser Mike's unscented natural soap Oscar11 custom brush with HIS knot EJ DE89 Gillette yellow blade CeraVe lotion The Mike's natural soap made a great lather, as usual. Three passes, very smooth close results.
Tour De Mike'sLily of the Valley Conclusion Day 1: First, let me say that I wasn't really anxious about trying this scent. I am not overly fond of strong florals. Right out of the package, I was greeted with a sweet, yet soft floral that was potent enough to be obvious, but not enough to be obnoxious. Upon lathering this up there was a further softening of the scent. It was still sweet and floral, but slightly more mellow than expected. The dominant scent is the Lily of the Valley, but there is some other notes such as Jasmine that balance out the sweetness of this highly poisonous flowering plant. Don't worry, your shave should be pretty safe unless you plan on eating the flower or berries that come from the plant while you shave or use a straight or R41 without knowing what you're doing! Been a while since I have done one of these...Needed to get caught up with school! Only a couple more scents from Mike's...On the horizon, I see a Lavender review, B&M, and Sterling! Have a great Monday all!
