So, in trying different shaving soaps, I have discovered that I love the Bay Rum scent. I have seen many different ASs online and am trying to decide which to purchase. First what is your preference, splash or cream AS? And, secondly what brand of Bay Rum do you prefer? It is all very overwhelming for a newbie and I don't want to waste a lot of money trying things that haven't been proven. Thanks in advance, Scott
Captain's Choice and Dominica are the two best smelling IMO. I've never seen a Bay Rum balm before though.
Krampert's Bay Rum gets a lot of high praises. I can only speak for Krampert's Frostbite, but it's in my top 5 aftershaves.
I can say that I really like the Frostbite as well. I have the Bay Rum but just received it last week so, I can't comment on it. Not sure if I can get the wife passed on the BR but, I'm trying.
I like the Krampert's Bay Rum Acadian Spice. It has both a great Bay Rum scent and great conditioning.
Krampert's Finest Bay Rum is excellent, both for scent and skin conditioning, IMHO. I just got Frostbite this afternoon, and I tried it - another winner!
I use the Ogallala line of Bay Rums but maybe time to go out on a limb with something different? Captain's doesn't really float my boat but I use it to have it be gone from the room. Krampert's maybe?
I love the original clubman but have yet to find a woman who doesn't find it apalling, including my wife.
I prefer creams and balms over most aftershaves. For Bay rum, of the commercial varieties, I like the Ogallala product (fav is Bay Rum with Lime & Peppercorn). I also use my homemade 'BlackRiver' bay rum, which is a bit milder than most store-bought brands, which my wife prefers.
No can do. Easy enough for one to make at home, however. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/making-homemade-bay-rum.34274/
