I felt I needed more blades. The 200 polsilvers were purchased because I am a sucker for discontinued items. The fact that I really like this blade was also a contributing factor The 200 Supermax Super Platinum blades were purchased for the same reason. They were almost impossible to find before I came over a UK seller on Ebay. Temptation got the better of me and I purchased this lot. Price was good, and so was the shipping charges The next day I saw the same blade for sale from Connaught at an even better price. Typical Mike's is Mikes. You know what you get and that is a first rate soap. I got these two pucks of Rose & Cedarwood, the Barbershop scent and a sample of Hungarian Lavender. He also threw in a sample of his Bay Rum soap for free. Very generous of him
As best I remember, Robeson straights have a reputation as very good shavers. "The razor that fits your face" was their slogan, having a variety of models. They also made knives. Do a google search for "Robeson Cutlery" and you'll be able to read about their history.
Thanks, Jeff, but the reality is my German is nicht sehr gut! Not much chance to practice! Baskische ist die langage meiner Vorfahren...
To end this awesome October: This Gillette belongs (belonged) to my father in his youth. The same is a bit dirty and I think that it is in need of maintenance and overhaul. Inside is inscribed: PAT ON NOS and PKG. Outside is inscribed: Made in USA e REG. US. PAT OFF Herbissimo Balm from Spain: Jabonman - Ylang Ylang Pachuli Naranja - Lima-Canela And Manuel had the kindness to present me with too samples: - Tierra Humeda - Clavo-Laurel-Cedro Congratulations to all of you.
Picked up a couple three things at an antique shop today but I need help identifying one of the razors. The razor on the left is a Gillette 1964 (J3) Flare Tip Super Speed - great shape and cleaned up real nice and I only paid $1 for it The mystery razor came in a Gillette Tech Razor box with a gold Gillette blade box with assorted blades and I had to cough up $5 Here's the mystery (at least to me). I can find plenty of photographs on the internet that tell me that's clearly a fat handle from a Gillette razor but the head doesn't have any markings other than "made in USA". Did Gillette ever put out a head with no serial numbers or the name "Gillette" or has somebody put a different head on a Gillette handle? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
The head looks like a 1921-1929 And the handle a 1939-1945 Fat handle Tech You can dig deeper at Mr Razor
I had me another brick from Klar Kabinett coming my way today. To keep it company was also a puck of De Vergulde Hand. I've read so much good about this soap that I just had to get me some of it. The vendor also packed in a rather large sample of the Tcheon Fung Sing BDF Mistero Shave Soap. Never heard of it before, but it smelled great. It is first on my to do list after shave stick week I also received the samle pack of Israelien blade from Liorfe. Very impressed with the shipping. It took less than a week from Israel
Picked up a few things from The Shave Den Shop this week. Florida Water cologne, TSD Iced Sub Zero aftershave, and another Cooper Square shave soap. I'm a self-proclaimed Iced Sub Zero junkie; I marinate in ISZ preshave balm on a regular basis. (I also got my father hooked on it) If any of you like ISZ PSB, try the aftershave, you won't be disappointed. I'm also a big fan of sandalwood, so I tried the Cooper Square shave soap in the lanolin version. It is my favorite soap so far, so I decided to give the original version a try. Any sandalwood fan should try this before it's gone.
I found a nice Gem razor and a box of Permedge blades at an antique mall in Beckley, WV this week. I haven't found much info on the Permedge blades, but they feel sharp. (I'll try one this weekend)
My last loot for October; found a travel razor (think it's a Merkur?), Somersets shave oil, and a Tumi travel bag (perfect size for shaving stuff).
