Another smooth Futur shave. The addition of the Speick to the Shea made for a more 'traditional' lather—very slick!

    Proraso PSC
    Musgo Real SC
    GT G4 Scuttle
    Lijun Finest Badger
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    Lustray Bay Rum ASL

Another day using the Lijun Badger to get it broke in and smelling socially acceptable. (The badger smell is now almost entirely gone) After a number of uses I must say, I love this brush. It performs beautifully, keeps a tight controlled bloom and has plenty of backbone for a badger brush. The tips of this brush are very soft and although I bowl lather it is great for face lathering as well. This is the first badger that I have tried that has the backbone to emulate a boar brush in this respect. It has not lost one hair in several uses. (and a number of de-funking lathers to start) At any rate, for the purchase price, it is an outstanding value and a great performer.
I dug out the bottle of Lustray Bay Rum ASL from under the sink (excuse me, from the lower compartment of my shave cabinet) and decided to give it a whirl today for the Bay Rum theme. The Lustray Bay Rum is basically alchohol, Bay Rum Oil, and Benzyl alchohol; not much there but the Bay Rum Oil in the Benzyl alchohol to give it a kick. It really doesn't stay around for a long time after use compared to say VIBR which is very noticable hours after use and has the great clove scent which I personally love. I guess that is why it gets very little use in my shave den. If you are the kind of guy who doesn't like strong aftershaves, this would probably work for you.

I agree the Glacial is pretty cold and if you like Glacial you should try Yeti Snot. For my face and nose Yeti felt like I was running ice cubes on my face and though heavy on the menthol not like the Vick's Vapor Rub smell I get from Glacial. Glacial is the only iced menthol that the Mrs. has banned from our bathroom due to the fumes(have all listed ice menthols above + others). Like you, Glacial post shave coolness around 15-20 minutes and Yeti was over 30 minutes and could have been longer but I had to leave for work so I then applied Krampert's Frostbite. For $5 a puck Yeti and Glacial are a steal for the menthol addict.

Bruce, I've also been impressed by the Lijun performance. Dollar for dollar, it's just a great value. Tight, firm brush with soft tips. It's actually firmer than two of my boars brushes (40 & 49), which tend to be a bit 'mopish.' I got mine 2nd hand, so the stink was gone by the time I received it. ;)

Beautiful razor, by the way! :happy088:

    RazoRock glycerin bar facial prep
    Cella Creama Sapone
Semogue Owners Club, today's featured brush
    Gillette "British Rocket"
    Israeli Blue

For the past three days I have used the Israeli Blue, a blade that normally produces good results. For some reason this blade produced sub par shaves, not sure if the blade itself was dud or exactly what the issue.
Tomorrow I load a fresh blade the blade definitely would not be a Israeli Blue. Despite all this is was an acceptable shave.

Thanks Kevin. Yes, I was very satisfied with the way the brush de-funked and maintained it's stiff backbone. I have 6 badger brushes and it tops the list! :)

It's largely cured any RBAD I might have had, that's for sure; I just hope it behaves as well in other razors, particularly since they appear on my Christmas list.

    Prep: FitjarSoap Pre Shave Soap
    Razor: Edwin Jagger EJ DE89
    Blade: Super Iridium (3)
    Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Mike’s Natural Bay Rum Soap
Aftershave: Taylor of Old Bond Street Bay Rum
    Moisturiser: Fitjarsoap Shea Butter Moisturiser

I like Mike’s. It is a challenge to lather correctly, and I usually fail at that. Today was no exception, but the beauty of it is that I still got a pretty good shave out of it.
Today’s lather was a smidge too thin, and not that slick.

My razor commented on the lack of slickness and said it was like walking on a frozen lake in a foot of snow. It is difficult to move and sometimes you slip and miss a step.

The blade on the other hand made no complaints and mowed down the stubble like a field of grass on a hot summer’s day. No wonder I get confused J

But as long as the DFS is DF I will be a happy camper.

Today's shave was excellent. The VDH Luxury soap made a great face-lather with the Semogue 135 boar brush. I don't know if I will ever go back to bowl lathering again. The Schick adjustable took two passes and some touch-ups to make it a BBS shave. I finished off with the Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS, and now I feel fine.
