Home sweet home and a nice warm Scuttle shave! My scuttle is the shave tool I miss the most on the road. I have given thought of getting a travel size scuttle like the one Becker makes to carry with me on my travels. Those travel scuttles are small enough to stash in the luggage and thick enough to keep from breaking so easily. At least it would keep the lathered brush warm between passes as I have been face lathering when on the road.

What an awesome shave! It was my first shave with the long handled Progress, and felt as if I had been using it my entire life! I enjoy the shaves I get from my Futur, but was really impressed at how this shaved under the nose, and with ease!

Razor: R41 for the first pass, Toggle set at 3 for the remaining 2 passes with touch up.
Blade: Personna Labs \ Gillette Super SS
    Brush: Made Rite 303 restore
    Cream: Lider Active
Post: Alum, Thayer's & Nivea Sensitive Gel Moisturizer
    Cologne: Clinique Chemistry

I had three days worth of growth, I thought I would see how well the R41 would mow it down. I could have stopped after one pass, amazing razor had a SAS in one pass. But I chased the BBS and caught it with the Toggle. NO irritation...My skin feels like it did when I was a kid.

I don't understand one thing, though. If shave everyday I have a hard time with a few spots shaving smooth. I let me beard grow for a day or three never have problem, easy shaves. :signs002:

Jacob, since I'm a guy with sensitive skin, the fewer passes I have to make the better. Maybe that's the reason I like the 2011 R41 so much. Two passes =done!

Your'e obviously one of those guys who just needs to shave every 3 days:p

My Parker pure badger brush seems to be scratchy compared to my other brushes, so I may be considering retiring it. It did a good job face-lathering the Proraso Green though. Two passes and touch-ups with the Gillette Slim left me with a near BBS shave. I finished off with the Thayers Cucumber WH and the Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. After a long day, I am feeling clean and refreshed.

    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (3, 4, 5)
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
Cologne: Jasmine et Cigarette by ELdO

I had a minor scary moment on the XTG pass this morning. My ever-present mild tremor caused an unintentional Gillette Slide as I was maneuvering around the ramus of the mandible on my right side, and I nicked my neck about a millimeter from the artery. Luckily, that was far enough away to keep the little nick from turning into a gusher. Aside from that, I got a comfortable, BBS shave.

Today my shaving journey took me to beautiful Italy where I really enjoyed a bunch of great prodotti italiani. The Proraso Green cream (new version) with its magnificent lather and cooling sensation as well as the intensely-cold Vifrex gel and the Floid Classic aftershave all worked their menthol magic beautifully for me and I had a great BBS shave. ;) :D

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Spice Bath Soap
    Soap: Godrej Lime Cream
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim “6”
Blade: Israeli Personna SP Crystal (2)
    Brush: Omega 6192 Pure Badger
    Aftershave: Proraso Green

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

2nd shave with the Israeli Personna SP Crystal in the Slim. I tried the Godrej Lime cream for the first time today. It lathers well and the lime scent is excellent. My shave was fine: close & nick free. The Crystals give a very good shave. They just don’t glide as smoothly as some of the others (and are also half the price). I finished with the Proraso Green AS.

    Blade: Personna Blue Lab (2)
    Soap: VDH Deluxe
    Brush: Vie-Long Horse Hair 12705
    Post: Witch Hazel
    Aftershave: Family Dollar Spice

This was my second shave with the Merkur 39c and I got a BBS. However, I also have a little tenderness in a couple of places. I had to work pretty hard to get the BBS, also. I have been consistently getting BBS shaves with my EJ DE89L, but thought that I might be able to get them a little easier (ie. fewer passes) with a slant. I know I haven't given the 39c a fair chance, but so far I'm having to work much harder to get close shaves with the 39c than I do with the DE89L. I'm sure it has to do with technique. If I can't get to where I can get good shaves with the 39c with fewer passes than the DE89L, though, I'll just go back to using the DE89L.

    Have a great day!

Today's shave was not as good as yesterday's, but still nice and smooth. My lather was a little thin which I think is what hurt the shave. Through out most of the shave there was irritation, and a weeper on the second pass. One small patch on my jawline is all that prevents this from being a DFS regardless or the irritation.

Smooth, comfortable shave this chilly, wet morning with the über-mild 38c.
I've actually grown fonder of the Voskhod blades—so I've learned to not always let first impressions dictate my shaving choices.
    Happy Humpday, all!
