just thought I'd come by and let everybody know that I tried my new flare tip this morning, I got my first absolutely great shave since I'm 14 years old… I made up a nice slab there with my new brush and I use the soAP called Kirks Castile which is the soAP that I used to shower… It's made in the Philippines and it's a coconut oil based soap, which is really good because it moisturizes your face after during your shave, anyway, I didn't even cut myself and as I said I got the best shave of my entire young life. To tell yoou the truth I am very happy to still have my ears to say nothing of my nose!!! Also I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful welcome… Al Newman
Great to hear your first wet shave went so well. I still recommend trying some actual shaving soap though. I think it will make your shaves even better.
Congrats on your success.. Coincidentally, I just got hold of that same soap; a nice all natural. I tried it briefly for shaving and the lather was pretty good..had decent glide etc. The only thing was lather stability was kind of poor for shaving which can make things a bit tricky, but it is possible to compensate...
for me personally I really like the Kirks Castile soap, I shaved pretty quickly so I never really lost the lather today I am no longer a virgin thank you for the advice do you have any suggestions?
For AN hard soaps there's Mikes Natural, Stirling and I heard Green Mountain was also good http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/mini-review-green-mountain-soap-ss.35179/ These are all available on line and you could also check out your local scene...
I would suggest giving VDH (Van Der Hagen) a try. It can be purchased locally in stores like WalMart, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, etc. It is inexpensive and works very well, IMO.
thank you all for your suggestions, big T I am going to Walmart today and buy some of the shaving soap that you recommend… Happy Thanksgiving to all
